I would skip the 6 series and go for the 7 series. Too many problems

Probably because Pixel 7's have been hovering around that price for a month now straight from google or another reputable seller. I'm not gonna buy a phone from some random internet stranger when I can get it for essentially the same price from amazon or best buy

"Refurbished phones are not guaranteed to maintain their waterproof seal"

that's a deal breaker for me

And I've had Samsung and Apple deny. Thousands of others have been denied also for similar damage. Check the OEM forums, XDA or Reddit if you don't believe. Good that you got covered, but make no mistake, you're the exception rather than the rule.

Edit: and just for clarity, the G5 didn't have an iP68 rating. That started with the G6
Samsungs currently in a lawsuit in Australia for not honoring the waterproofing claims they made in advertisements. We'll see how that pans out, either we'll get better waterproofing on phones or manufacturers will stop making the claims all together

The black is actually $314 for me. I would get one if I needed a phone and if Google had decent resell or trade-in values. I have a new pixel 7 I need to sell and no one wants to give me at least $450 for it.
I have same issue with 1 pixel 7 I have but with Mint Mobile still offering the pro for 499 I don't see prices going up anytime soon.

That's because everyone could have bought it for $500 on sale, and doing trade-in magic $250 or less total with bit of work. You want $450 for something that retails $500? WTF. $375 or may as all buy brand new.

It retails for $600 plus tax in my area equals $660. The sale price of $500 will be over soon. So I have no problem with waiting it out.

How do you get the Pixel 7 pro for $499? Is there a way to get this price without trying to sell the service?

Same here. 6 Pro on Sprint/T-Mobile, free from the CDMA retirement deal. Great phone, no issues going on 9 months now.
I've heard of fingerprint reader issues, mine works flawlessly.

As a 7 owner, let me tell you: there are STILL too many goddamn problems. I don't think I will but another pixel after this crap experience.

Google trade in values were awesome until recently. They gave me $390 for my galaxy s20fe, then refunded me another $100 per phone (bought two) when they had their black Friday sale a few days later.

That said, I wish I'd kept my s20fe. There are some nice features on the pixel, but nothing that's a significant upgrade over the s20fe experience, and the fingerprint sensor is hot garbage.

Are you planning to use them underwater? Technically majority of used phones will develop these issues since seals wear out in sim card tray, speakers especially if someone blows compressed air to clean them and even from constant flexing stress. They get away by saying those things even for new phones I think by twisting some definitions like for example that they said it's water "resistant" not water proof or that you took it too deep etc.
Majority will probably deny any warranty if they see those water strips turn red anyways even if phone is new, unless additional warranty that covers water damage is paid for the device.
5 people are planning to use their phones underwater..
Interesting

If it's against humidity or few drops of water I'm sure refurb would survive but that depends if they put any adhesive between the screen and body and like I mentioned from my experience of fixing iphones I had few that were over year old and factory seal failed even though the phone was bought new from Apple and with additional warranty (Apple care+). One of those was my cousins phone that he decided to take pictures in pool when he visited Hawaii (not even ocean salt water or snorkeling) his 11 pro became deadweight and when he tried Apple (after rice in a bag trick lol) they saw the activated water sensor and denied any repair right away. The phone still had plenty of water inside when I opened it up and that's after few weeks passed and rice bag waste of time thing. He said it was for few minutes of video and few photos but that was the end for that poor iphone.
Strangely enough my brothers Motorola survived being dropped in mud water when he was fishing while back was already cracked so I guess it will depend of phones design and how water enters the phone.

Do you still or have you even owned the phone? I've had it since launch and I wanted to throw it out the window until they released the June update. Now I'd buy 2 at this price. Those who are weary, the biggest issue with this phone TODAY is not the phone... it's the stupid curved screen and trying to find a good screen protector. I still own this phone and yes it had its flaws for the first 6 months, but they have them mostly ironed out.
