Got a couple phones in the past. (They've been running this promo on and off forever.)
Nightmarish experience:

- Even corporate store employees covertly tacked multiple extras onto my account (worth $80/month) despite my saying outright that I wanted the cheapest plan with no extras
- My metro app is broken
- website is broken
- porting numbers out was an adventure
- stores and employees are sketchy, but will require you to show your ID

Will not do it again. Too much aggravation, risk, and hassle.
Beware that it probably won't be a smooth ride for you.

What is the drawer trick?

And what about those folks who do not have any corporate store around?

Dealers are charging activation, insurance and tax on full price of the phone. Making this deal almost $200 OTD.

Buy two of this and hope you can get it before end of this year.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/28503028...SwAPdjaWv0

If you get them before end of 2022, you can activate one of them first and begin a new tracfone award account with a refereral code. Then add 2 devices to
it. With all of these, you should get 25k rewards points pending. In case you get them after end of 2022 and tracfone stop the 10k per line promotion, you need
to activate one of them first and add all left 3 devices later. Then you should get 26k rewards points pending.

After 2 months the rewards points vest, you need to monitor these 2 urls:

https://www.tracfone.com/phone/ap...gb-prepaid

https://www.tracfone.com/phone/ap...onditioned

Whenever they are in stock, just change your 20k reward points to a $300 discount coupon.
If it's a new phone, you only need to pay $30 + $10 (for service).
If it's a reconditioned, you can buy two and then pay $30 + $20 (for service).

Activate the iPhone after you get them and they will automatically get unlocked after another 2 months.

So it will take you around $150 and 4-5 months in total to get either a new iPhone 11 or two reconditioned iPhone 11.

At same time, you also got several years Tracfone service and several basic phones.

Verizon and its MVNOs ARE NOT qualify to port-in since Dec.23.
That's actually not true. I ported in from USMobile - Verizon MVNO- yesterday.

Drawer Trick: As of now, until they change this, all Metro phones unlock after 180 days. They don't need to be on an active plan beyond the first month. So you can either use the device as a WiFi device or just put it in the drawer for the next 180 days. Day 181/182, it either automatically unlocks or you reset the device and it unlocks.

For folks with no Corporate stores, you can still get it, just will pay more fees, at the very least Activation fee and $6 or $12 insurance at an Authorized Dealer.

Like I said in the OP, they are making up their own rules.
So can we use this with R-Sim for Soft Unlock on Tmo until the 180 days? Or will that mess up the official Metro Unlock?

Dammit, you are right. PIXEL2022 is dead.

I was able to get a P7 for the wife trading a cracked out iPhone X.

Was trying to find a suitable iPhone 11 to trade for the P7 Pro, ended up making the purchase with my iPhone 12 mini as the trade.

Soooo, question with experienced Fi traders; can I switch my phone I designated to trade? Do I contact them ahead of time, or just send the different phone without warning?
I still see it why ur saying its dead?

Not exactly. Only if they start making up their own rules. However, as long as you have the printed terms and call the call center, most will concede at that point.
The information is always appreciated but you have no idea what you're getting people into by sending them to these stores. First, like I mentioned on my previous post the reason for this to be the final price is due to Metro stores running a promotion where they were waiving off the $20 activation fee per line, no one knows when the expiration date for this promotion is/was but it was rumored to be around Christmas.

Also printing out terms doesn't help you much when dealing with Metro, I even chatted with their support a few days ago and I was told each metro store has its own exclusive deals and promotions, that's why they can stack bs things to your lines like insurance or accessories claiming it's mandatory for the deal and there's nothing on the website you can show them to prove this is not the case

Just wanted to add a data point, I did this deal back in June. Paid for one month of service, left the SIM card in the phone with the device off.

It unlocked after 6 months. Looked into RSIM but heard that taking sim out of phone will interrupt that 180 day unlock timer.

I like to be informed, but it looks like too many works/steps. What's the lowest price for iPhone 11 right now? $200 without contact or something? I can't remember...still, I'm happy to know that there's a way to get the phone for cheap
Cricket has/had a promo for $50 iPhone 11 with port in but required 3 months of service @ 60/month. Also takes 6 months to unlock. Not sure if service was needed all 6 months but looked like could drop to $30 after first 3 months?

Hellomobile.com $5 per month unlimited talk, text, 500mb data, 2nd month free
Very much off topic indeed! But thanks a million, I was looking for a cheap place to park a number for a couple of months. This is a very nice deal.

By the way another member (nk88) posted the US Mobile plans. They indeed have a similar $5 plan
(2500min & 2500Text + 500mb) but it adds $3.57+ per month for taxes and fees, along with no second month free. So for short term 60 days, this Hello plan is very sweet!

Stepping into a B&M metro store is the most riskiest and stupid move I ever made in my life. I still have the scars.

AGREED! But just like buying a car or anything thru a commissioned salesperson, if you know what you want and know it should be available at the advertised price point and are prepared to say: "NO", then it is just a little adventure!

The beauty of this thread is that it outlines what you Should be able to achieve, and all the ways you can be prepared.
