A couple of weeks ago when Cascade gel was on sale at Costco I paid $7.99 for the 125oz bottle so $0.0639/oz. I get 15% S&S discount instead of 5% which makes this deal $7.73 for 120oz so $0.0644/oz. Basically the pricing is the same. Of course this doesn't factor in any cash back you might get from your credit card or a Costco executive membership.

Honestly ... it depends. It depends on your dishwasher. It depends on your water. It depends on what's on your dishes.

For me: I find that the best is, of all things, the Great Value brand dishwasher powder or the Costco brand paks. The BJs brand paks work well too but are more expensive. Palmolive brand gel worked alright but now it comes in a much smaller container now (yay shrinkflation!)

Thanks! This stuff isn't the best but is has a fresh smell and when it's at this price, it's a good deal. Fill the holder and then add another splash as pre treatment for best results.

So, which one is considered the best? Or at least better?

I have been using this for the last several months and prior to that, I have used a number of other products. The biggest variable on if the dishes come out clean are 2 things based on my observation:

1)how dried up/stuck is the food. I don't run dishwasher everyday. My granola + Greek yogurt mix creates a near concrete material that's very hard for any detergent

2) how the dishes are loaded/spaced out. A densely packed dishwasher can also make it very hard for any detergent.

I'm not convinced the different kinds/brands of detergent, from $0.1/load to $0.5/load make a large difference.

I used Finish pods until I watched the Technology Connection video advising me dishwashers were designed for liquid detergent. So, I purchased this Cascade detergent and my god, the condition my dishes came out were horrific. Worst then when they went in. They came out completely covered in a fine chalk type substance. Not only that, but had mystery bits on them.

I was almost certain my dishwasher was broken, because there is no way detergent could make that big of a difference. I bought Cascade Platinum pods and it completely corrected the issue on the first wash. This Cascade detergent was thrown into the garbage. 0/10.

Aren't the pods just premeasured packets of liquid detergent? If I'm not mistaken, the premeasured powder are known as tabs.

Fair enough.
I guess in the end we need to try out some options.
I changed my dishwasher a few months back, and confused, why my regular cascade platinum leave white mark on the dishes and stuff.
I need to try 100% liquid detergent

Yeah my old GE with the dial would only get clean with Walmart or Palmolive. My Bosch is much more forgiving.

Thanks, OP. I've been using the BJ's brand detergent packs for as long as I can remember and I'm super happy with them. This deal worked out to $8.15 somehow with s&s and the coupon for me so I'm going to give it a go. I can always give it to a friend and switch back, but it's definitely worth a try.
