Does the Teflon coating come off after a while like those cheap non-stick frying pans?

The last cheap air fryer I got from best buy (Emil) had the Teflon come off after like the 5th hand wash.

Had to use the scrubber side of a dual sponge because the gunk wouldn't come off with the sponge side. Frown

(Had no problems using the scrubber side on my expensive non-stick frying pan )

The Bella air fryers are absolute junk. ONLY buy it if you are just going to see if you like air fryers in general. That way, if you don't end up using it, you will at least know you are only out $25. If you do like the air fryer concept then you can upgrade to a better one. That said, if you know you like air fryers and want one, avoid this brand. They are junk, omit weird odors from the material, and have a poor reputation.

I bought this a few weeks ago for $40, it was a good deal at that price.

Yes, it DOES smell when you first run it. Pro tip: for your first use, run it OUTSIDE for 20-30 mins.

Solid fryer. The only thing I don't like is the touch buttons don't always register when I'm tapping quickly.
Why don't you call bestbuy and get a price match?

You shouldn't be cooking the food directly on the pan if you want it to last. I buy foil wrap sheets from Costco and use one each time I use the airfryer

But then that defeats the purpose of an airfryer

How does using foil wrap to protect the surface therefore prolonging longevity of your airfryer and protecting your health defeat the purpose of an airfryer? I thought the purpose of an airfryer was to airfry your food?

If you coat a pan before cooking food does that defeat the purpose of a pan?

i've heard a lot of crap about this brand since i've been in the market for an air fryer (heard the print washes off on some models, the bad smell, the "engine" not being powerful enough to heat up the basket on the larger ones like this) it's making me hesitant to pull the trigger

plus it's bestbuy which adds a whole other layer of hassle as well. if anything goes wrong with the shipment, or you need to cancel/exchange/refund for any reason you have to deal with bestbuy to get your money back which is always a huge problem.

good luck

Using foil blocks air circulation that would otherwise flow through

you can poke holes in the foil if thats a concern but everytime i have used foil it worked just as good as without its possible it adds another few seconds to cooking time but the results are the same

We've had one for 2 years that works really well - maybe an older model? We're a family of 6 and the nicer ones don't have the capacity. ETA we run ours in the garage but no weird odors. Just the smell of food?

They all do… every air fryer instruction manual tells you to run the machine once you get it new with nothing in it
Uh…. This is after 10 uses.. and cleaning. - the PTFE on the bin is low grade coating , now..unless you like having a plastic smell to your food- bon appetite!. 😏

Totally this -- price should be $50 per year lol as they only last 6 months!

Decent air fryer for the price and I paid $40. As another user mentioned the buttons don't register sometimes. Don't see this thing lasting too long.
