It's a matter of what you prioritize.

The cheap gaming laptops never have 400 nit 100% sRBG screens.

The cheap gaming laptops usually don't have USB-C with power delivery.

Cheap gaming laptops are often louder.

Cheap gaming laptops have lower build quality.

Gaming laptops don't come with Windows Pro.

Gaming laptops in general have worse battery life.

Gaming laptops will weigh 5-6 lbs rather than 3.8.

So if you don't play games, and want something lighter, with longer battery life, more features, and superior screen, then this makes sense.

Otherwise you can give up all of the above in exchange for an RTX 3050.

Not everyone plays games. 🤷🏻

Option #2 is the real deal here. 680graphics, 16in, full keyboard, 32GB(replaceable!!), 1TB, backlit kb, 400nits. Wish it was H processor but this beats the BF deal.

I have the 7 Pro 6850U version of this and it's a really great system. Incredible battery life, super quite and runs cool, and built quality is outstanding. I upgraded to Win11 and had an issue with Windows hello (facial recognition), but got it sorted (almost sent back)... That's my only caution as (fingerprint worked np). Anyways, it's perfect for my use case as software engineer and Program manager, with a little light video and image editing, and some older game play thrown in.

Every once in a while I will need to follow up with the CB site. I always write down the time to the minute of when the order was placed. And the CB site has always been able to track it down with that.

I've ordered both (the 845 G9 and the ThinkBook 14p G3). :-) I'm really impressed with my 845 G8, build quality and keyboard are top notch. I think the Lenovo is good, too, and it'll probably be a bit faster with its H-series processor, and it costs a bit less. The HP will arrive first; if it meets expectations, I'll cancel the Lenovo. However: keep in mind HP's horrible return policy, 15% restocking fee.

I had a hard time deciding between the 2. I hope IGPU performance with either CPU is the same. The deciding factor for me was getting 32 GB ram, 1TB, 400nits screen, plus smart card reader (I use it daily), and on youtube the webcam and AI sound performance is supposedly really good.

400 nits vs (cost difference && delivery time)

That extra 100 nits is huge (300 vs 400 nits).
