Got one of these a long time back on a Walmart clearance deal. Should have bought more. I didn't use these while doing professional photography but I absolutely would have if I had them at the time. Being able to set these up as line of sight TTL slaves is huge for getting some of the more creative shots people are looking for. The fact that you can buy a dozen for the cost of one sb-700 is just insane.

The rear interface is a little clunky but even the OEM Nikon flashes are like memory puzzles to find the right settings. Well worth it for the budding photographer. Get a few though IMO if you want to do the creative stuff.

Yes, I picked up two when it was on clearance for $15 each...very nice flash. A bit temperamental but once you get the hang of it it's awesome. I can't get it to work together as a group with my sb-600 though.

Nikon's TTL system has always been a bit of work. The sb-600 can't control them I don't think, but the built in flash on most Nikon cameras can. I used to pop my sb-900's off camera with the D700's built in flash set to commander mode and 0 exposure. These would work the same way basically, set up the cameras flash to fire in commander mode and it'll tell these guys what to do. For creative shots though, I would often just slave my flashes and set the power manually on the flashes unless I really didn't know how much exposure I needed. For really powerfully lit stuff, TTL is sometimes more of a pain than anything.

If you google - kenro standard speedflash manual - it'll bring up a pretty good copy of a manual for what seem to be a near identical flash and page 28 / 29 might walk you through how to setup the flash. The camera you might be on your own since they can all be different.

I am indeed using the built-in flash as commander and the two sunpak flashes as slaves. But I also wanted to include my sb600 as part of that slave group so that I have three lights system. Two in the front and one in the back for highlights. For some reason when I put them in a group my sb-600 won't fire. If my sb-600 fires then the other two won't … I'm guessing they are on different frequencies or something.

I'll check out the manual you mentioned above. Definitely has some info I haven't tried yet.
