Samsung dumping inventory like it's no tomorrow. But having used this phone for a year, $220 is an amazing price for this thing. Awesome AMOLED HDR10+ display, high refresh rate, flagship quality camera, big battery. The only thing negative maybe is the glasstic back, but you won't notice if you use a case. Using the S22+ now and there's really not a big difference other than the build.
Also there is micro SD card slot and wireless charging, good deal at this price.
I've had this phone since release day and it's still going like new. I could of got a new s22 for free but don't need to. I really like the SD card slot cheap storage upgrade. I take allot of video and never run out of space.

Back up your data and try factory resetting it. If that doesn't get it closer to its original performance, then it is time to upgrade.

Great deal. I also upgraded from S9+ and it made a big difference. Been going strong now for 2+ years. Thinking about buying this for my wife to replace her Moto G6 as she hates the camera and it's generally slow.

I wonder what's behind the big inventory dump.
These are some great deals on some more than capable phones.

Can't get what "renewed" phones are. Are these refurbished/ returned / defective but repaired or used phones? Or all of the above?

I wonder what sort of trade in value this would have with Samsung when they do preorders for S23 ultra in a month or 2.

1. Samsung made too many phones this year than what market demanded. There's some news that they targeted 30 million S22 series sales but was far from reaching that goal. Now they have a lot of S22s as well as older S21s that weren't sold. Like a lot of companies, they must have extrapolated COVID-year sales figures into 2022. Turns out this year less people were stuck at home buying new tech toys.
2. S23 is right around the corner

I'm in the same boat S10+ that I absolutely love!!! With SD card. Verizon warranty and I get new Samsung glass and new battery every 9 months. But...it looks like Samsung has started issuing the updates of death a couple months back, burns through batteries pretty quick these days.
