These are okay, I bought one a couple of years ago for $50 on Amazon. It started developing some minor rust at the base after one year, but nothing that some spray paint can't fix. Good deal at this price for sure.

If you really want something that will last forever, build your own rack with pressure-treated 2x4s and these joints: https://www.amazon.com/Mofeez-Out...07KVT1NHD/

Just buy the 8ft and assemble without the 2nd extension brace.

For what it's worth, I've had two of these for about 11-12 years. They haven't rusted at all. I keep them covered as well, but everything else seems to rust pretty quickly in the south! I keep them in the yard, so I do have issues with them staying stable and level so I tie them off to a tree. No regrets at all purchasing these.

Wish this applied to the 4ft rack. 8ft is too large for my patio
The code worked for me on the 4ft rack. I don't have enough room for the 8ft

These things are junk. Just use pallets that you should be able to get for free.

All I can think of is rust in about 6 months.

I'd rather spend a bit more and get a cover.

Would it hold up outside sitting on the grass?

Twice as much, not "a bit more," just as likely to rust

General information -
  • This is a junk product, lasts about a season or so. Will rust, gets wobbly and is a safety hazard.
  • If you do decide to get it, for what ever reason, extend its life span with a protective paint coating
  • This is a good one - https://shop.advanceautoparts.com.../7141585-P
  • This is an exterior paint only - dont paint this and put the rack inside the house, this paint is NOT meant for indoor use. Do two coats.
  • Use a wire tensioning kit like this one https://www.amazon.com/TooTaci-Tu...B0995DR879 and do a Cross X brace on either side. Do it for safety reasons.
  • As stated earlier - do get (or better yet make) a cover
  • These things are such crap, makes you want to spend the money on a welder, get some scrap metal and make your own d@mn rack. We are turning into a nation where, "If you want to do things right, you have to do it yourself."
  • Don't fill the landfills folks with this junk and don't transfer our GDP. (PLEASE)

Looks like absolute garbage. Especially for $30.
