Both Stratocasters I grabbed during Adorama's last deal were returned. Really poor fit and finish for $1250. I get the feeling that these guitars may be returns that Fender gives to adorama to sell at a large discount.

Man.. I wish I had known these were coming.
I just bought a Player Plus Strat and a Player Tele during black friday / cyber monday...
While the Player Plus is more like an ultra with the noiseless pickups, I would have gone for this american tele over the player one without a doubt.
Now I have too many to justify buying these or the ultra that was for sale without selling something I have.. hmmm

Both Stratocasters I grabbed during Adorama's last deal were returned. Really poor fit and finish for $1250. I get the feeling that these guitars may be returns that Fender gives to adorama to sell at a large discount.

Actually QC has been slipping. I've seen a couple reports on the Performers having some QC issues. Hadn't seen any on the professionals and above yet.. But I myself had to return 2 player plus's to sam ash that were sealed from the factory with QC issues. My third one still had some, but I decided I could live with it (light scuff marks on fretboard where the final factory person was in a hurry/didn't care and didn't properly mask it off before polishing the frets). The second one also had that, but much worse, AND a nick in the neck. And it still passed 'qc'...
It would now have to be a REALLY good deal for me to consider buying a guitar at the $1000+ price range online again. I'd rather see it in person first.

Paint defects, pickups with bad grounds, poorly driven screws, clear coat overspray. Little things that should've been caught and sent back to the production line.

My pro ii in black and white was perfect. No issues what's so ever.

Ugly colors left. Definitely a great guitar

Yeah, I was upset when the $1100 (didn't have a discount) player plus's had qc issues.. I'd have been quite a bit more ticked off they were the American made ones.
Were they still sealed from the factory? Box secured with staples, not tape, all the tags on, little desiccant package in place, etc?

Nope, both were reseals. I asked them specifically for a sealed package the second time and they sent me another reseal.

I bought the Dark night in November the pick up screws were not driven in and needed tightening the quality was good but not as good as my 2012 and 2015 models

Yikes... noted. Like I said, will need to be a VERY good deal to make me buy one online again.
My first two were from Sam Ash, and both were sealed. The third was from Sweetwater and they open all of theirs to take pictures. Though the pictures they take aren't that high of a resolution so you couldn't see the sanding marks on the fretboard Frown
I got one of the open box american acoustasonic telecasters from prodaudiostar, and it's frets aren't finished as nice as the nearly 1/3 the price PRS SE 245, and even the squires I have. Plus it had an issue with one of the knobs not fitting correctly.
I was hoping the american lines wouldn't have those qc issues. Disappointing, i guess you have to step up to a custom shop one to get good qc, maybe.
Or maybe just go with a PRS Silver Sky instead.... hmmm

Sam Ash runs like Guitar Center where the stores hang their supply on the wall and box it back up when someone does an internet order. Not much in warehouses.

Seems like most of the issues has been with Strats, but that may be because they are more popular and most of the deals have been on Strats.

Anyone have a bad experience with their teles?
