The HUGE problem with either version is the sound/mics. I usually use my GoPro Hero 7 and Hero 10 for video and the sound they produce is very good. I used the Insta360 for the 360 camera only. I recently made a trip and switch over to the Insta360 RS 4K (supposed to have improved mics over the R version) and the sound was _terrible_. The R version does include an external mic adaptor but I'll warn you.. if you lose it, you won't be able to replace it. I think Insta360 is just trying to blow through their excess 4K R cameras by offering a good discount.
Again, I'd say that the video from this camera is acceptable and about 95% of what the GoPro delivers but the sound is simply not there.

Right now I'm a big fan of the DJI osmo action 3 and use it primarily, but this camera for under $200 is awesome.

That said, for the money, this isn't a bad deal. For under $200 out the door you'd be hard pressed to find anything better. Also insta 360 has a pretty good app which can help you produce better shots through little tutorial / idea videos.

Got it for my daughter for Christmas so we haven't really put it through the paces yet. It feels high quality similar to my GoPro.

It's the base version which I think is a 1/4 inch. The rs is a 1/2 inch.
