It's external, so it's doesn't matter because I would be limited by the latency and thruput of the interface (USB)

How are these compared with sandisk extreme that costco sold for $135?

It's QLC while the Sandisk is TLC, so it's lower endurance and large writes will be significantly slower.

Get this awesome enclosure [amazon.com] and then you are free to pick and choose your SSD (or even swap them).

I've had this for about a year as an external drive to switch between mac linux and pc. It's pretty decent and has been working great for steam games.

What's a better two terrabyte ssd that I could get for $100 to put in that enclosure?

That wouldn't mean it's unimportant. It's not like this ssd is going to write at a sustained rate of 5 or 10gbps. The sustained write and read performance is limited by much more than the usb interface.

Hey Guys and Gals,

Anyone have any personal experience using one of these with an Ipad Pro (3rd or 4th gen)?

There is none. Just another classic example of people spouting nonsense disguised as incomplete ideas.

I think the $100 is more ballpark than firm in his question.

There were some M.2 2TB drives that were pretty close to that before adding an enclosure.

The truth is, most of the SSD drives built to be external tend to be a little more rugged than what you can assemble, but YMMV. If you're reasonably careful with your equipment, it won't matter.

If you do go the assembled route, don't go cheap on the enclosure.

I interpreted as firm because the subject of this thread is a $129 external drive and the suggested enclosure was $28. So if one is to suggest a superior alternative, then the cost of the alternative should not exceed the cost of this deal. Or if it does exceed the cost of this deal, the the alternative needs to provide some value add. "Pick whatever SSD you want" is at best an incomplete recommendation.

No worries, my intention was merely an alternative response, not a slam intended in any way towards anyone. People here can get a little thumbs down happy and there was a reasonable alternative reply. You're good.
