Nah, haven't had an issue at all like that with the 256 GB veraion, but maybe my ownership of it's still too young to tell.

Milliions of cells are changing state inside to store data.. heat and radiation are byproducts until the mfg changes the nature or the semiconductor materials and design. These are industry wide accepted pactices. It only gets better when an innovator shows proof of viability of a better method of mfg efficacy and cost benefit based on mass production. Sofar materials that can do this better with less heat have been cost prohibitave to mfg.

Purchased the 256, but it doesn't suit my application because of load time on the device. So looking to get a smaller capacity as that seems to help.

i bought sandisk before, same small size, it got so hot the plastic melted.
