One of these took a dump on me. Samsung wasn't willing to help.

Also, it wasn't compatible with the Arlo hub when it got full. I bought a different brand and it worked flawlessly.

Milliions of cells are changing state inside to store data.. heat and radiation are byproducts until the mfg changes the nature or the semiconductor materials and design. These are industry wide accepted pactices. It only gets better when an innovator shows proof of viability of a better method of mfg efficacy and cost benefit based on mass production. Sofar materials that can do this better with less heat have been cost prohibitave to mfg.

I have a 100% failure rate on these. Run hot when used. Any of them that I used, I think 4 total died. Still have couple which were unused and really won't be in any critical fashion.

Nah, haven't had an issue at all like that with the 256 GB veraion, but maybe my ownership of it's still too young to tell.

They get pretty hot but then again, so does the BAR Plus (which has a metal casing). Neither throttle, even with continuous reading/writing.

What is the Real normal price for this?

Purchased the 256, but it doesn't suit my application because of load time on the device. So looking to get a smaller capacity as that seems to help.

Iirc, these were always around this price normally?

i am more talking about b/c of the small size, the heat have nowhere to go. if it's a regular sized drive, then it will run much cooler.
i bought sandisk before, same small size, it got so hot the plastic melted.
