Once you had dark chocolate originated from Europe, any American chocolate (or chocolates made for the US market) would be disappointing. Even the worst brand chocolates there taste better than this overpriced Godiva crap.
These are basic chocolates, not Godiva's fancy truffles which are quite good and fun to taste the variety of flavors. This tin is a little under a pound, which works out to around $15/lb for these. Kinda average deal.
Note that the tin is about 10 inches in diameter, to give you an idea of the size of you are giving as a gift.
As an aside, I used to work for Campbells Soup back when they owned Godiva, and they'd sometimes have several pound bags of Godiva seconds for $7 in the company store. Only problem was they were all the same flavor and it was hard to tell what kind they were from the swirl marks. Inevitability I'd think I was getting carmels and get stuck with 5lbs of raspberry nougats.
