Their owned by Shell, who also owns Pennzoil as well. Shell is a reputable company, and one of the world leaders in petroleum engineering. Any product they make will meet their standards, and it also meets the standards of every certification listed on the bottle.

It's listed ILSAC-GF6A certified which is currently the most strict standards in the US. It also meets the standards for basically all vehicles in the US short of some European vehicles which call for their own standard which can only be found on bottles labelled European.

Either way the oil meets the highest current standards, as does basically all other major oil brands including Mobil 1, and Pennzoil, Castrol, etc.

I would say almost more importantly, this is also offered in 0w-20 and a couple other weights at the same price

You started off so great, but then ended your post with a blanket mileage statement. For many vehicles, 5k is way too short an interval. I personally change the oil in my Subies well after 5k (around 7.5k for the turbo and 10k for the non-turbo). Used oil analysis shows this is OK.

The real answer is: it depends.

Anyone know anything about the quality of Quaker State oil. Back in the day, I was always told to stay away from it (ie, conventional oil). No idea how these full synthetic oil is as I've always used Mobil 1 or Pennzoil.

Well, I read a long report by a mechanical engineer, maybe a year ago, and he rated all motor oils. And he stated that the Quaker State 10W30 motor oil is the best motor oil you can buy. His recommendation was to run 10W30 Quaker State, no matter what the vehicle manufacturer called for. Like you, my father worked for Standard Oil Of Indiana, and he always said, Quaker State Motor oil was junk?(conventional only available then). I did do a couple oil changes with the 5W30 and 10W30 in my corolla, but I'm not really sold on it. Additionally, the engineers stressed the oil that is used today is not as important (Basically meaning any oil made today is far superior to anything we've ever had) as the importance of changing your oil regularly every 5000 miles.
