This was the fastest purchase ever... LOL
Have the exact same one for years now. (bought for twice the price here) Had been my to go tool with anything plumbing and even some welding projects. Great for work on the car as well.. Now having two of them -- I predict much nicer language when doing plumbing work..

Lowes has a two pack of the 10" and 8" for $20 or $25. Either way, this is not a special deal.

What exactly is "locking" on these? These don't bite like Knipex do, right?

Also, anyone know of any Knipex clones for a good price?

It's just the setting that "locks" when you release the button. These are Irwin's version of Knipex Cobras, but fall far from that quality. I keep these down in the basement and sometimes use them for light things like unscrewing washing machine hoses, but if the job is going to be hard, I go out to the workshop and grab the Knipex.

Here's the project farm test (includes both Irwin and Knipex): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjDG4gaiRp8

For basic plumbing do you think I need a 12 as well?

It was 21. Took your advice. You think I'll need a 12?

Was interested because it says "locking". On closer review, it appears to do nothing of the sort.

i got the two pack of the 10" and 8" 10+ years ago and they are great.

but if you are going to be doing anything above the two sizes I would recommend getting the $13 14in HF pipe wrench https://www.harborfreight.com/14-...63651.html this thing has rescued me so many times. if you do a lot of steel pipes get two.

I got the two pack also, and find them clumsy to use. The button feature is pretty useless.

I also got the 8" and 10" pack for about $18. Saved me a few times. Ever try to remove a side mount GM car battery and tighten it cause a GM battery over years gets loose in a parking lot.. worked perfect... the lock or vice grip is a true lock like a vise grip. Agree with comment above. Go to pair for most anything. Bought another. Deals don't matter so much when it's a tool u need.but it's a solid tool for $13...
