I clicked on other items by seller and found the identical pair I have and bought two in different colors.
I wear a size 12, my feet are at the upper end of normal as far as width is concerned, so I usually get a regular or wide depending on shoe.
I had a Gel-Excite 7 before the Gel Excite 8, I would roll my foot quite a bit with the 7 as it was quite narrow but the 8 is perfect. I tried the Contend 8 but it never fit right.
The Excite 8 is my favorite go-to shoe. I use it mainly for walking, about 20+ miles a week on sidewalks. It's also my regular pair of sneakers when I go out. Very comfortable for me. They're not waterproof, there is an all weather version but I wasn't sure if the fit is the same and didn't want to risk the return shipping.

The Gel Excite 8 (regular width) is wider than the 7 (regular width).
Gel Contend 8 seems to be narrower than the Excite 8 in my experience. I can't put on a Contend 8 unless it's a wide.
My local Meijer store carries Asics, so my experience on fitment has been based on in store.
