There is no base version of the Fenix 6X.

Sapphire Pro version: All of the features of the Pro version with a stronger sapphire crystal lens
Pro Solar version: All of the features of the Pro version with a Power Glass lens, capable of solar charging
The sapphire screen is worth it. I have been using 5s Sapphire and now after 2.5 years of every single day use/training , its started to shut down for no reason. Its time for me to upgrade.
Also costco has 6 Pro Solar for 380. Its not Sapphire though.

edit: does anyone know how accurate the heart rate sensor is on this watch? I read mixed reviews about that, and it's an important factor for me. I usually wear a hrm for exercises but want accurate tracking throughout the day even when I'm just wearing the watch.

I am still rocking my Fenix 3 metal band with a screen protector. I abuse the crap out of this watch and it takes it.
Once a year I'll get out my polishing wheel and shine it back up.
The built in heart rate isn't accurate always, but I don't track mine to an extent of exactness that I care about the discrepancy. At that level you know your body well enough anyway

I see what people mean when they say that sapphire screens are more reflective and not as vibrant, but I'll take durability over aesthetics all day here. Still looks beautiful.
For any newbies to Garmin watches like myself, I found this video to be extremely helpful and easy to follow: https://youtu.be/QtuIpKdGQq0. I'd suggest playing around with the watch on your own first and then watching the video.
One of my only complaints currently is that I wish I could sync my Peloton data (Bike, Tread, Row) to the Garmin Ecosystem. I have my Peloton synced to Strava, which is great. What I'm doing in the meantime is wearing the Fenix during Peloton activities and tracking separately versus my Peloton device + chest strap. After the activity is complete, I edit my stats in Garmin to match output/pace/distance/etc. from my Peloton. That way I can still get all the health insights to more accurately reflect in Garmin's ecosystem. There might be a better way around all this, but I haven't figured it out yet.
