Here are major differences between the Fenix 6 versions..

First is size:

Garmin Fenix 6S: The smallest model, features a 1.2-inch screen, 42mm case size, and a 20mm band

Garmin Fenix 6: The standard model, features a 1.3-inch screen, 47mm case size, and a 22mm band

Garmin Fenix 6X: The largest model, features a 1.4-inch screen, 51mm case size, and a 26mm band

Second is the version type:

Base version: No Wi-Fi, maps, or onboard music; Gorilla Glass lens; and 64MB of storage

There is no base version of the Fenix 6X.

Pro version: Built-in Wi-Fi, maps, and music; Gorilla Glass lens, and 32GB of storage

Sapphire Pro version: All of the features of the Pro version with a stronger sapphire crystal lens

Pro Solar version: All of the features of the Pro version with a Power Glass lens, capable of solar charging
this is probably the best deal i have seen for a 6x sapphire.

The sapphire screen is worth it. I have been using 5s Sapphire and now after 2.5 years of every single day use/training , its started to shut down for no reason. Its time for me to upgrade.

Also costco has 6 Pro Solar for 380. Its not Sapphire though.
I highly recommend this watch if you want to track your fitness. I got the 6X Pro and love it.

Is there some kind of smart assistant connection when connected to my phone? Specifically Google? I want to be able to hit a button and tell it to do whatever?

I've been mulling this over since it came out. Like others I just don't know. Bought a 235 but got into other outdoor activities since then. HRM sucks. Lack of inreach integration sucks. No ABC sucks. No music sucks. But I'm still getting like 6 days battery which is about like it was new. I dunno if I should settle for this price which is a crazy good deal or wait and see for the fenix 8. I don't need to upgrade but I don't like buying every single new version either.

Anyone who has this, do you not want touch screen? It's holding me back as I'm used to the Vivoactive
I previously used an Samsung Android wear watch, and for activity tracking I honestly prefer no touch screen. The buttons are much easier to use with gloves, or while running without accidentally clicking on something wrong. Only place I kind of wish I had a touch screen would be maps, but even that is workable.

I picked up a 6X Pro Solar on clearance for $269 at Target. Probably an extreme YMMV deal. I wouldn't go crazy looking for one, but if you happen to be in Target and interested in one take a peek and see what they have.

I felt like I needed touch screen for all of about 5 minutes. Fenix 5 and now Fenix 6 for quite some time, the controls are simple and intuitive. Compared to my girlfriends Venu I prefer the quickness and responsiveness of using actual buttons over her interface. The touch screen shouldn't hold you back - what is more important to me is being able to answer texts from the watch. That's basically all it's missing IMO

Has this ever seen the price of $299? I bit on this price, but was wondering if I should have waited. I have the 5X Saphire and it's a great watch. Was debating if this was worth the upgrade.
How does 5X Saphire help with this?

For year round running, touch screen is a pain—taking off gloves, getting sweat and rain on it. I switched back to only buttons and feel that's a better choice for MN running
Agree 100%. While running outside or even walking outside, it much easier to navigate physical buttons.
