Hopefully. c a s h b a c k site gives 10-15% back so my S22U to S23U upgrade becomes free or less than $50 out of pocket.
In the same boat as you. I traded in my S21U for S22U last year after catching a good deal with trade in minimal out of pocket after CB. I now have S22 Ultra 512 in the custom grey graphite. Still mint condition nod I have been watching the leaked S23U info almost looks exactly the same phone with slightly better processor, slightly better camera and less curved screen. It would need to be pretty good deal for me to make the trade in for S23Ultra. Rumors are free ear buds. I got a free pair of Galaxy Buds Pro a few years ago and hate them. They keep falling out of my ears. I guess we will wait and see hopefully its sub $100 Out of Pocket with CB.

I wish they get rid of the Stylus
The stylus is the only redeeming feature of the S22 Ultra. Otherwise it's just a heavy, indistinguishable brick of glass.

Agreed. Samsung has lost its USPs. They are now a crappier version of Apple. I've always had a Samsung and for the first time, I'm considering a move to Apple's cage.
I will say do it. At least for privacy and reliability reasons. There is no niche for Samsung in the hardware side outside of the screen. I like iPhone's battery longevity. Of course, IOS is preferred for privacy reasons (esp. with advanced data encryption). P.S: I'm still rocking Note 20G ultra and 13 pro max. Will eventually start carrying just the iPhone when Note hits the dust.

I have the 12 pro max but want to switch to the s23 or maybe even s22 ultra I'm on the fence about it. The bad battery is an issue tho I've heard the phone charges super fast? Everything else I own is Samsung aka laptop, tablet, and buds. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.. my auto generated username is not how I'm feelin about this.

Are they usually ignore capacity for trade ins as in 128GB gets same credit than 512GB? At which point buying lowest would be best due to lowest retail but same trade in value.

I always find if you wait a few months, the deals get too good to ignore.I dropped my S21 and upgraded to an S22 ultra with a trade in deal I still paid less than 200 for total.
We do it at launch every year. Last year we did S21U to S22U and got a Watch 4 44 and Buds2 for $400

Preorder a phone that you don't even know exists yet 🤡
Reservation does not equal preorder. You put in contact info and they tell you when preorders go live... 🤡

Batterylife has to improve. s22 ultra was horrible. And now that we tend to have watch, buds, cars (if you have tesla), etc always connected, battery drains pretty fast, especially you take meetings on the phone on zoom or teams. Battery life is certainly one thing I am hoping will significantly improve.
Ive seen people mention this occasionally but don't get it. Even after owning it since launch I still consistently get anywhere from 7-9 hrs of screen on time with quite heavy usage incl videos calling with the only thing turned off being auto sync.. And other than Reddit i don't use any other social media. Its the first phone ive had in many years where I stopped worrying about battery life much.

On another note: it really feels like we've plateaud on phone development bc unless Samsung has something up its sleeve that hasn't been leaked.. It sounds like this will be a fairly minor incremental update again. More and more it seems these annual releases are more for baiting people into jumping up to a higher model in the series rather than going lateral (Ultra to Ultra in this case).

Ill probably hold onto the S22 series for now and see what the Pixel 8 series will bring. Been impressed with especially the software features of the 7 series my wife has and it seems they finally fixed the hardware concerns of the 6.

Lots of Sammy fanboys will disagree with you. They seem happy that the Galaxy phones are becoming like the iPhone. I am seriously considering making the jump when the next iPhone has the USB C port.
what they mean is that Apple won't have a Lightning port, not that they'll have a USB-C port. When the iPhone 16 comes out (could be 15 but I doubt it) it won't have any ports, which will abide by all laws
