I mainly put that out there so to raise awareness that an rx 6800 and a rx 6800xt are two different cards. I got tripped up on that stuff some years ago. Most benchmark vids out there use the xt's and it's just easy to confuse the two.

6800 is faster in just about everything except ray tracing and has twice the vram of 3070, so it's a lot more future proof.

This is still a great deal, the non XT is only 250 watts and can play everything at 1440p ultra and 4k high

I can also get a PNY XLR8 GeForce RTX 3070 for $450+tax. Would the 3070 ($450) or RX 6800 ($489) be better for my build? I already have a 12700K and TUF Z690 mobo. This build will mainly be for photo and video editing. I do plan to get Diablo 4 for some casual gaming though.

It's old and not sure how much improvement with drivers. It's only one site,so I would look at more to get a general feel for what would be better.

Edited to prevent misinformation. I was previously going by passmark G3D performance benchmarks.

3090 = 6900 XT (6900xt can outperform in 1080 ultra, about even in 1440 ultra, but may lag behind in 4k ultra)
6800 XT
3080 Ti (6800xt can outperform in 1080 ultra and 1440 ultra, but may lag behind a dash in 4k ultra)
3080
6800 far outperforms 3070 Ti by about 15-20 fps across the board of 1080/1440 gaming and by ~10 fps in 4k
3070 Ti = 6750 XT
3070 = 6700 XT
