It's been well below this price several times. I paid $650 for it on Zavvi, and it's neither sold out or retired.

Since those times are in the past and everything is more expensive now, $80 off seems like a good deal for this set for people who need or want it now.

Thanks for posting, OP.

This is available at Target.com [target.com] also so I would imagine there would be no issue trying to get a PM over chat to bring the price down to $732.16 with Redcard.

"Those times" were like a month or two ago, and there is a very high probability it will go on sale again for considerably less that this price, but you do you.

It doesn't even matter how much you paid before. What matters now is the price today.
By all means, pay $800+ with tax for it if you have to have it this very moment. My point is it has been between $640-660 SEVERAL times, and will almost certainly be available within that price range again until it retires.

I hope you're right. I have yet to see one below $699.

Eggs were a lot cheaper in December. I paid around $3 for 18 eggs before Christmas. Now, a dozen eggs costs more than $3 by me. Local news said eggs are now 60% more in price.

I usually wait until Target Buy 2 Get 1 free book sale to buy new physical books, but my son told me he needs the certain book for his class, so I bought it from Amazon with Buy 1 Get 2nd 50% off sale. It was not cheapest but I needed to buy this week, so I bought it. I was happy to find the book deal to save some money at the end.

Yes, stores were having Black Friday sales and holiday sales 1- 2 months ago before Christmas. Now, Christmas is over, there are less Lego sales now. We can always talk about things were cheaper in the past or we bought xx at half peice when a store was having sale last month. There's no guarantee the price will happen again. Meanwhile, we need to encourage people to post deals they find in here. Saying "it was cheaper before" is not really encouraging people to post deals again. Deals forum like SD needs people to find deals and share them so that we can all benefit.

It's been posted $700 or less on this site 6 times in the past 6 months. I don't think it's out of the norm at all for people to come into a thread and mention it was less just a few weeks ago. If you really need to inflation-splain, you should check out the GPU threads.

Edit: And using egg prices is seriously the worst example. They are high because of a MASSIVE outbreak of avian flu sweeping across the country and decimating the hen population. There is no plastic brick flu as far as I know.

Point is that it is routinely in the $640-680 range every year and will likely continue to be that way until (IF) they ever announce retirement (which they haven't). Last I read it'll be around at least another 1.5-2 years.

I know avian flu is going on and that's why price of eggs are more now. If I need to bake something with eggs, I need to buy them regardless of the price. (I actually have to buy eggs soon.) However, I will do my best to try to find the cheapest price I can find in my area because I need them now. My point was the price or discount/sales are not guaranteed in the future. Perhaps, this deal helped someone who needs this set now, not in 6 months.
