Just sharing my Costco experience from last year if anyone is somewhat disappointed with this Super Bowl pricing. It had been a few years since I had made a purchase for a large, more expensive TV for our den (where we primarily watch movies and sports). After asking around a bit, and checking forums, quite a few people told me that the new TV models come out around May timeframe and that often they use the Super Bowl sale to clear out this year's model and that "now" was the time to jump on a TV because when the new models came out, there wouldn't be any deals for a while and there wouldn't be enough stock of old TVs to really deal on. So, I picked up a Sony 75" X90J during Costco's sale using my Costco CC to maximize the warranty for about $1599 plus tax. After purchasing, I can say that there were at least 5 times that I know of where the price was anywhere from $100 cheaper to $400 cheaper (at Costco or other reputable retailers) including several times where the X90K (newer 2022-2023 model) was actually cheaper. In hindsight, if I'd have had it to do over, I'd have used the Costco Super Bowl sale pricing as a guide and I would have waited on purchasing until I got a better deal.

Hold off. As the recession really starts to bite there will be a huge inventory glut. Just be patient.

These are regular last BF prices coming back again. I was keeping an eye on 85" Sony X90k and Samsung QN85 mini LED and both of those were the same price as advertised now. So, not much of a deal. I am glad I pulled the trigger on the 85" X90K from Buydig when Ebay ran the 15% off promo. Combined with Chase 5% cashback via Paypal, that came out to be around 1700$ out the door price. Current Costco deal for the same TV will go over 2150$ for most places with Tax. Not to mention no more additional warranty from Costco.

Exactly right. Sam's Club has gotten into the OLED game finally l, but the selection is limited. My local SC's at some LG OLED in the store.

Why? Other than not being a Costco member - you get another 2% @ Costco with the CC, and 3% on travel (I don't use the gas benefits). The CB "check" can literally be cashed at Costco, too.

Granted, if you don't spend that much I can understand it not being a real benefit, but I'm really making bank with the CC this year, not only with organic spending (groceries and such) but also shifting purchases to Costco in order to get ~ 4-5%, and at no more cost OOP. for example my car needed tires, wound up being a touch cheaper at Costco, plus I get 4% back (on $1100.....). Booked a cruise through Costco Travel, same price as with the cruise line directly, but I'll get 5% back AND $140 shopcard/room (3 rooms so $420). None of this is spending I'd not otherwise be doing.

I used to (still do in many cases) think just like you. I think some people really follow a strict budget and save up for a specific number from their earnings. Irrespective of budget constraints, some people get a high by knowing they bought the rock bottom price. Hence the tracking and waiting.

Interesting experience. I bought an air fryer and the dial was super finicky so I returned it after a year (could not exchange because they did not have the same model in stock anymore). Coincidentally, another air fryer was discounted and I purchased that one. Used the new one for a month or so and there were some issues with excess vibrations / loud noise, returned and got another. I videoed all the problems that I had but the customer service rep said that they did not need to see the videos! Other than having to go to the store to exchange, I've had a good experience with exchanges / returns (and to be honest, I was already going to the store to get other stuff).

GDP has been up and unemployment has been down. Hard to say what will happen with inflation but by every traditional measure there is no recession. Thankfully the crypto bubble bursting was fairly isolated to that sector or there might have been a crypto recession when that all went belly up.

The prices listed are misleading. 4 of the big screen TV's were this price at Xmas. On Dec 26th, they raised the prices and now have lowered to make it seem like your getting a great deal.

You don't think a company knows about inflation? They are just gonna produce less and keep the price the same/high. Been doing this for the past years.

I was looking to buy a 65" C2, but this price seems average at best.

I'm trying to sell my 55" OLED E8 series (slight burn-in after 3 years). LG said they would either replace the panel, but I still had to pay like $300 in labor or just give me a 20% rebate check (that would allow me to buy at any authorized retailer).

The issue is that people are different, some save, some impulsive, some cheap and some don't care (all positive, just a general label). And it doesn't help that there are variations on all models in the TV arena. Does the top model from last year beat out a midrange from this year? It does or doesn't, depending on the individual

I would still buy a tv at Costco vs Best Buy, even after Citi removes the additional 2 year warranty on purchases this month. Does Best Buy allow you to return a tv within 90 days, no questions asked? Nope, normal window is 15 days. Does Best Buy give you a 2 year warranty on every tv they sell? Nope, 1 year.

If you're buying the All-State 3 year warranty through Costco, you're now getting 5 years vs 7 years. If you don't buy the warranty, you're now just getting 2 years instead of 4 years using the card.

Also some people look as it as a game. Or just it's built into their mind they have to get the best deal it bothers them if they don't.
