Just sharing my Costco experience from last year if anyone is somewhat disappointed with this Super Bowl pricing. It had been a few years since I had made a purchase for a large, more expensive TV for our den (where we primarily watch movies and sports). After asking around a bit, and checking forums, quite a few people told me that the new TV models come out around May timeframe and that often they use the Super Bowl sale to clear out this year's model and that "now" was the time to jump on a TV because when the new models came out, there wouldn't be any deals for a while and there wouldn't be enough stock of old TVs to really deal on. So, I picked up a Sony 75" X90J during Costco's sale using my Costco CC to maximize the warranty for about $1599 plus tax. After purchasing, I can say that there were at least 5 times that I know of where the price was anywhere from $100 cheaper to $400 cheaper (at Costco or other reputable retailers) including several times where the X90K (newer 2022-2023 model) was actually cheaper. In hindsight, if I'd have had it to do over, I'd have used the Costco Super Bowl sale pricing as a guide and I would have waited on purchasing until I got a better deal.

Hold off. As the recession really starts to bite there will be a huge inventory glut. Just be patient.

AFAIK, Costco's price adjustment is just that - they simply give you the difference back, but the original sales date stays the same. I did this once and took forever as they had to find the calculator to figure out the difference in price and tax. Then they wrote everything down in some paper spreadsheet.

If you do return/rebuy (ideally, rebuy/return in case of stock issues or their refusal to sell you the returned item) it will affect the warranty as it will be a new receipt and date.

Meh. Decent prices but no amazing deals here.

Though I suppose it's good that prices for large electronics have held steady despite the supply chain problems and double-digit inflation we've been experiencing lately.

LMAO that's not how it works any more. Haven't you noticed that there are fewer and fewer post-seasonal clearances every year? That the big 75% off after Christmas decorations sales at Target and Walmart are a thing of the past?

All the major chains have switched to a "just in time" fulfillment method where they have sales forecasters predict exactly how much they'll need and then send the stores only what they need for the next couple of weeks. Walmart and Costco don't buy in massive bulk and have big warehouses full of stuff sitting around, they have what's in the store and that's it.

That's what caused all the weird shortages of stuff like toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic. All the stores and their suppliers only had enough and were only making enough to support normal buying habits. When people's buying habits changed due to being in lockdown the system couldn't react fast enough because retailers would rather sell out and NOT have an item to sell to someone at full price than take the chance that they would have a big warehouse full of excess inventory that they have to sell at a loss.

I did wait 4 years to buy a TV. laugh out loud Didn't have a TV before that, just didn't need and didn't want it.

In short, I cut down a lot of things I purchase. Mostly stick to MY essential need.

While I don't disagree with your premise, I do disagree with your examples. I just bought plenty of after-Christmas overstock at Walmart for 50%, then 75%, and finally 90% off yesterday.

That's not how price adjustments work at Costco. You aren't returning the item and there's no new purchase date (that's certainly not in their best interest anyway).

These are not good prices. C3 will be released soon and these will drop more than the C1 did in 2022. Less computers were sold last quarter by 28% since they started tracking this in 1990.

Also buy Samsung and enjoy the low light reflection life.
