Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

With Ford Mustang Mach-e price cut indication, Tesla need to quickly get the pre-ordered delivered and if they take longer beyond 2nd Week of March more Car makers will start coming with discount. I still do not know why Tesla is not swapping their existing inventory to lock the customer which is just cutting 1000 dollars or 2000 dollars
They have until end of Feb to do it.

Ordered a model y long range Saturday afternoon. Blue color, everything else base. Got VIN today and set pickup appointment for 2/9.

I was worried I'd lose the tax credit, but this is way quicker than expected. Now to get the charger installed.
Good for you ! I ordered the same config (assuming yours is 5 seater ) on 1/14 still waiting for VIN … which state you are in ?

took delivery at the delivery center today, think about share some information for the first time tesla buyers
1. if you were paying cash, it is actually a two step process. in the final payment page, you first link a bank with sufficient fund, then once it is added, it is another step to pay. so you could link the bank first before you decide to pay. it is important to know that the bank you adding must have sufficient amount, or else it doesn't let you add (which was why i was confused and thought the bank adding and payment might be the same step, but it is actually two steps)
2. all tesla i saw today have some sort of panel gaps, and they are all inconsistent.. but with in the 5mm tesla spec. it is actually not terrible but it is noticeable (i have the austin car, and i don't think the quality is any better than fremont)
3, paint. mine came with two paint defects, maybe i am unlucky but for a what is supposed to be improved production line, this is pretty poor quality wise.
4. that said, my car has no rattle nor wind noise whatsoever, so the car is well put together interior wise.
5. the benefit of pick up in person is that as long as the car is not outside of the lot, you have not accepted the vehicle. so if you have any issues that you want to reject, pick up in person is the only way.
6. but if you were going to keep the vehicle, then there is no difference between pick up in person or delivery to your drive way. sales agent won't rectify any issues you have, you have to book via service center before you car hit first 100 miles (that's when you can point out any issues)

over all, very satisfied experience, in and out in 30 minutes (most time was waiting for the temporary license plate) i would not go back the the traditional dealership after this. in fact, next time i would just take drive way delivery.
Do you get an option to get it delivered to your driveway? I only get pickup option which is 50+ miles away.

In one of the Tesla forums, I saw the following update on CVRP eligibility. It looks like the rebate eligibility is not going to be retroactive.

"Hello,

With Tesla's recent price reduction for the Model 3 and Model Y, those vehicles will once again be eligible for CVRP, pending Tesla completing necessary documentation to add them to the CVRP eligible vehicle list. Until the vehicles are on the list, consumers purchasing and taking delivery of MY 2023 Tesla Model 3s and Model Ys remain ineligible for a rebate. The delivery date of the vehicle must be AFTER the models are added to the CVRP eligibility list.

Thank you"
so there is still a chance. Imagine if they add it and the fed just doesnt change anything after march.
so lower price - $7500 tax credit - $7500 CVRP for CA
then its no question to purchase

I'm gonna laugh when Elon adds the hardware 4 package with radar to these vehicles in a few months and also cuts prices further. Gonna be a lot of sad people underwater on their loans
