Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Immediately like 'same day'? Not really. You still have to do some digital paperwork. I also know of examples of people that ordered a car 'in inventory' and have had said car cancelled or substantially delayed.

But best case, you could get it in < 1 week.

Beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. Blind people think MY is ugly compared to Predator-face Solo.

nah, dont spread BS

you still qualify , they always have done it this way for years
Quote from caymera :

The sale qualifies only if:

You buy the vehicle new
The seller reports required information to you at the time of sale and to the IRS.
Sellers are required to report your name and taxpayer identification number to the IRS for you to be eligible to claim the credit.

No BS, pure paperwork. Check with Tesla, they dont collect any of this information nor do they report. They may have done it for years, paperwork changed starting this year.

Here's the Dealer/Manufacturer requirement:
https://www.irs.gov/credits-deduc...quirements
Quote from GoodOmens :
The new law requires the POS (Dealer or manufacturer) to report a bunch of information on the buyer to the IRS.
Such as:
  • Seller/Dealer name and taxpayer ID number
  • Buyer's name and taxpayer ID number
  • Maximum credit allowable under IRC 30D for new vehicles or IRC 25E for previously owned vehicles
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN), unless the vehicle is not assigned one
  • Battery capacity
  • Date of sale
  • Sale price
  • For new vehicles, verification that the buyer is the original user
https://www.irs.gov/credits-deduc...quirements

They have until next year to report it so expect follow-up from Tesla to be eligible (I can't remember if I provided my social when I bought mine years back)...

Report must be provided to buyers at the time of sale and later to the IRS.

Each report must include a declaration of accuracy signed by a representative of TESLA with binding authority. The declaration must read: "Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined this report submitted to the IRS pursuant to Revenue Procedure 2022-42 by [insert name of Seller], and to the best of my knowledge and belief I certify that this report is true, correct, and complete."

Paperwork changed for 2023 reporting. All these new rules are for 2023 from IRS. They have history of changing flip-flopping rules as year goes by but as of now that's how the rule is that dealer must report sale details and other information to IRS.
