Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

Not anymore, we actually raised our rates today to over 5%. The 2.99% rate is locked in until expiration on 4/3/2023.
I would just call and talk with a Tower agent and see what they can do. Just tell them the situation about the 4/3/2023 expiration and see if they can reopen the application. I mean are you even close to picking up the car?

Perhaps if you had the VIN number and the Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement ready they will be more than ready to reopen the application since they know you are very close to picking up the car.

I've tried but didn't see the option on the app for this change.
Thanks for advice thou Smilie
Try resetting your personal information and click on Change in the app. When you do that, it resets all your pre-delivery tasks. Then it should allow you to re-do the financing portion again. I had to do that a few times. If not just call your local Tesla dealership and tell them your reservation number and what you want to do. Whatever 888 number you dialed...forget that.

Once you get assigned a VIN you have like less than a week to pick up the vehicle so you would want the application to be ready for them to process. I am sorta glad I didn't end up doing financing with Tower FCU.

td;dr: Might have to forfeit current VIN. Anyone have insight on VIN reassignment timeline? Will I be placed at the end of the queue (April-June delivery) or will I be reassigned the next VIN that matches my configuration?

Context: EDD was between 3/19-3/25. I got a text yesterday, 3/13, evening saying that the car is ready and prompting me to arrange pickup. Got another text this morning saying that if I don't schedule pickup by tomorrow the VIN is being reassigned. I'm away at the moment and can't make their 3-day window. Local store rep isn't willing to put a hold on it or even honor the EDD window I had planned around.

I'm pretty annoyed about the situation. Looks like I'm going to lose this VIN, potentially lose out on the tax credit, and potentially lose out on the low interest rate financing I had secured. They should at least respect the EDD...
Don't worry about your VIN reassignment if you are already being assigned a VIN the first time that means that Tesla wants to wrap up your reservation number so in my case I did use my 1 hold and after I released the hold I got a new VIN within 24 hours.

Tower fcu closed my loan application saying they did not received documents in 30 days. Anyone experience this with them. Were they able to open the loan application again at same 2.99 rate?
Tower agents are A**holes. They are running a shitty business. Stay away….

Very disappointed in the interior noise on the Model Y. It's clear just looking at the gap in the door frames that it's a design flaw.

I have had my # vin for like a month but estimated delivery date is 3/22-3/31. Does that make sense?

Hopefully you got your financing ready with cashier check in hand because this is a good opportunity to catch up on that. Normally you don't have much time to get your financing in order before they ask you to take delivery.

You are better off finding one in a neighboring state, fly or drive there, buy it and drive it back than getting Tesla to ship it around.
