I'm not seeing 300 nits or 100% sRBG anywhere. Not in any ads and not on the Acer site.

Says the 144hz panel is likely 250 nits and 70% sRGB: https://www.ultrabookreview.com/5...22-review/

Review of this model: https://www.pcworld.com/article/1...mance.html

"The 1080p is sufficient, however, for this size of panel, leaving the lackluster brightness as the display's biggest flaw. It's a rather dim display with dull colors that is best suited for gaming in a basement or other dark environment. In my office that receives some natural light, I had the display brightness set to its max at all times and often tapped the brightness-up button in a feeble attempt to increase it further."

144hz 1080p displays tend to be cheap/poor in all ways this year... unless there are manufacturer specs or reviews saying otherwise.

Absolutely not.
You should wait for the 5000s.

As the 2023 laptops with the 4000 series graphic cards hit the market, these older 2022 models will continue to fall in price. I noticed only one sold on ebay. If you can wait until April, much better deals will come around.

Can you tell me why that deal is better? Smaller screen and smaller SSD. Is it the processor?
Just a thread crapper promoting that deal because he posted it.
Doesn't know that both are of totally different sizes, 17" vs 15", and hence not comparable at all.

The processor is indeed better though but thermal throttling is more due to the smaller form factor.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank Tyr

The pros for the predator: better processor, 165hz (vs. 144hz) screen, Thunderbolt 4, 1080p webcam (vs. 720), more metal chasis, better portability

Cons: less screen real estate, only 512gb (vs 1 TB) SSD, lesser battery life

I am thankful Jaggsta posted, for me the Predator was the better purchase.

This seems like a really good deal to me. Powerful enough to run a index and doesn't take up the space. Any one ever use this for that and can speak to how it works?

why not make a 19" at this weight - that's be more interesting
for gaming honestly, 17 inches is a minimum imo.

Valve index. It's a vr headset. One of the better ones. I've been trying to justify one but couldn't justify a stack for the index plus a high spec gaming rig. With this laptop being half off it makes it somewhat more palatable..

I bought this new for 899 because my old laptop died. IMO who ever is complaining about the screen is either crazy or got a lemon. I love this thing. I'm pretty sure it was then and will continue to be the best bang for the buck I've seen for a long time.

I will be hooking up the laptop with everything external. Basically used as a CPU. Obviously don't care about screen brightness as I will be using the external monitor. Other than that do you guys think this is a good deal or predator one above?

Can you power on with the screen closed?
I miss having that, when using as a desktop.

Wow a 130W 3060 and a cooler than intel running AMD chip. If I didn't have my Gateway with the 2060 from 2 years ago, I'd jump on this.

Just a heads up, this is a good deal just in terms of a general small form factor pc. The laptop 3060 benchmarks the same as the desktop, which is unique (most laptop equivalents of their desktop don't benchmark the same, and are usually worse).

So this is kind of like getting a really good 3060 prebuilt.

As for heat, I ran a 2060 laptop that was always kinda hot for 3 years and still works fine. These things operate at these temperatures just fine.

It's a good deal. The laptop 3060 benchmarks the same as the desktop 3060. So this is the cheapest 3060 prebuilt I've seen on here.

Yes, there is a windows setting that asks what you want to do when the lid is closed.

Or a 32" screen that folds like a Galaxy phone
