Usually these require deep electrical outlet boxes so you'll have to replace those too if yours are too small

On sale because USBA is headed toward obsoletion. Besides USB flash sticks, I don't think I have anything anymore that requires USBA.

If you're going to install this it would seem like a better option to future proof and go with USB-C ports.
That's a probably why this is on sale…

Will this USB port support quick charge at a higher voltage?

Some nice alternatives for a little more I've found recently.

In-wall GaN (less heat and lower depth for the socket itself) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B3RK32VZ

External - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WMXP1MG

There is no such thing as future-proofing these unless you see this as another disposable tech product.

Recepticles normally last, what, at least 30-40 years? You're going to be swapping these out like every 5 years to keep up with the rising amp needs or plug standards. Used to be that USB-A and 2A was sufficient like 5-6 years ago. Now when I see those at someone's house, I reach for my charging brick, which is about the same price as this and way more portable and swappable.
I am sure that he meant to go with USB-C, instead of USB-A, for future proof. Most likely, USB-C form factor may outlive USB-A form factor

Nope….5volts only for standard usb. It's usually the usb-c plug that is PD (power delivery aka higher voltage) rated. Not all usb-c even do PD at higher voltages.

I installed 2 of these on an island in the kitchen. Wife insisted on using the adapter anyway. Ugh.

This is the brand electricians use but why get this when the non-USB ones are way cheaper.

Aren't we using power strips and chargers anyway?

These aren't fast charging either

I did not install this specific receptacle but it comes in handy on the end of of kitchen countertop. Couple cords in the drawer below and it's handy if you want a little boost while in the kitchen but our guest are always using it . Don't need to go find a brick to plug in . It's convenient and doesn't hurt anything you still have access to two normal plugs

Link? I don't see that in their site.
