Not a very good deal. The 65" should be under $300. Best Buy even had the better 55" 5 Series for $200 just a few weeks ago.
My 75 year old parents bought the 65" version of this TV recently and have been really happy with it. It might be bottom of the barrel but it is way better than the old tv they upgraded from. They paid slightly over this price and bought it in store at Wal-Mart near the small town they live in. They wanted to see the picture before they bought it. I convinced them to add on a cheap soundbar with a wireless subwoofer and now their setup is pretty great for only spending about $500.
Nice deal if you're happy with bottom barrel on a 65". It's a better deal that similar bottom tier samsung's of course.

Personally, unless you're a college student, I'd try to get something with local dimming that you're gonna use everyday, since edge lit in 2023 isn't that fun.

Hisense u6hf on Amazon has hit $350 a couple times lately at 58", I bought that recently and think it's a much better deal -7". To each their own of course.

I'm not talking brands, I'm talking about the specific TV. If it was a tcl series 6 or something I wouldn't have the same comment.

The problem with edge lit + low brightness is the TV does not have a contrast range. You can't overcome high lighting, and you can't distinguish similar shades...

The hisense has straight up better technology, quantum dots, local dimming, high brightness, high contrast.

And anyone who's buying this tcl TV should not act like they are too concerned about panel lottery..

Uhm, it's direct lit.

Can I play games on this TV? Im not a gamer but got ps5 as a present but Im not really picky

This would not be a good TV to take advantage of a PS5s graphics
I originally had my XSX hooked up to a BF 65" Element (probably identical in PQ to the S4 TCL's) and I was happy with it. If you are not picky as you say you should be fine. If you are not used to watching or playing on an OLED you probably won't notice or care about black levels. If you really really want to get a TV that can accommodate every graphical feature the PS5 has you are probably looking at close to double this price as a starting point. If you just want to play games at 4K or 1080 upscaled this would suffice.

Looks like it's on clearance at Walmart now.

Also Howard's has the 65" Series 5 on sale (in store only) for $399. Link for reference:

If you can't get the Series 4 for $228 at Walmart, may want to pay $30 more and get the Series 5 instead.

Hope my comment is helpful to some… I have had a Samsung 8 series and few 6.
1. I have used this in 65 for a few years now. .. they seem to improve every year or so but not sure if they keep using same model # or changes with the upgrades.. my tv has a thicker bezel but the new ones I see on display have thin nicer clean bezel top and sides.
2. These do not have the best picture BUT.. the picture will satisfy MANY if not all.. bright enough, crisp enough, good enough color reproduction. If your TV is 1080p. Don't hesitate to upgrade to this.
3. Those looking for gaming or best picture for movies/sports have to pay 2x or more $ on Sony/LG/Samsung
4. My wife loves our 65 TCL ROKU (friendly responsive interface) in our living room but she hates the newer 70 Samsung in our bedroom even though picture is better. Samsung trying to steer / trip / direct you into their OS is annoying.
5. I love a great picture .. man I do. believe me.. I can watch tv theater rooms for hours.. but why I settle for lesser picture TVs is because TVs are now smart TVs and operating systems hold a greater weight in decision.. would you be happy with the best tv picture but the menu interface lagged and was not user friendly.. or after 3 years they stopped updating OS?
6. Will you be ok paying thousands for a high end 4k TV .. if 8K budget TVs with latest OS with larger screens come out next year at half the price?
7. I would rather get a new bigger TV every few years and "hand down" TVs to kids rooms and rotate to room locations.

GL everyone..happy shopping

For perspective, as I remember Target sold the Android-tv version of the TCL 65 inch 4 series for $229 a little over two years ago, or about $218 after RedCard discount. I got used to electronics continuously offering more bang for the buck each year, but that seems to have slowed or stopped.
The timing for this deal couldn't be better. Had been using this as my basement/playroom TV for the last 2 years, but one of my son's friends just broke it with a joy con during his birthday party a few minutes ago…

I have been using 55 inch version for a few years now as bedroom tv. While I love the roku interface and all, looking back I feel I should have invested on a better display probably by samsung or LG. Can't complain but the darks are really bad and pixellation is worse sometimes. Buy nice than buying twice.

Got that $200 BB 55" and it's been great so far. I go between a 77" lg oled in the living room and the TCL 5 55" in my office - like with the football game yesterday, and don't really think about the change.

We have a 4 series and 6 series, both 55". I am REALLY curious how many people complaining about different aspects of this TV went through picture settings and even took it off eco mode. I am very happy with both TVs on both our main floor surrounded by windows as well as the basement with only a couple of tiny windows on the opposite side. I look at other TVs and don't see that much difference in what I have seen. I think a mistake people make when comparing TVs is looking at the custom LG or Samsung demo that overemphasizes that panel's strengths and then puts on Hulu or YouTube and remembers how awesome it looked on the demo and hold onto that bias.

If people look on best budget TV lists, for the price, the 4 series is usually #1 or #2. If you look at best bang for your buck lists, usually it is TCL 6 series. That does not mean either has the best of everything, but the 4 series typically offers more than the competition for the price. People saying to go with Samsung or something, compare a Samsung for this size/price… With the 6 series, it becomes a question of if the increased price paid is worth the improvements. Sites like digital trends, rtings, etc. typically suggest it is diminishing returns after the 6 series or the Hisense U8H. That doesn't mean a $5k OLED looks worse, but it won't look 5x or more times better given the difference in costs.

Ya you're right. They don't really edge light big tv's nowadays. But direct lit vs edge lit is the same problem, tv shines one big "always on" light at the full array of pixels, which is gonna kill blacks and hurt contrast... This is why local dimming (basically a bunch of dimming zones than can turn on and off) was a big advancement awhile back.

I bought the Android 65" version in 2020 on Black Friday for $230. It's worth it at that price. For those talking about TVs going up in price, and it being "natural", there were plenty of sub $300 65" TVs this year around Black Friday.
