This does not state BPA free anywhere and the one I bought brewed the water through it without any coffee but the moment I put coffee in it would not work for some reason. Had to return it. Never even got to make any coffee with it.

This has been $15 for well over a month now. Also I do NOT recommend getting this shipped - I did an in-store pickup and the carafe was shattered, you could hear the pieces rattling around inside. They had another one, way easier than dealing with a return.

I'd spring for the 12 cup Mr. Coffee. Have a programmable one that's lasted 6+ years. Cost around $20, on sale, then. Similar machine is $32 now. Works well. They have the more reliable manual switch version for $22. This doesn't look bad, but the MC is only a little more.

Paper filters filter out some of the acid so it tastes better.

I suggest against a permanent filter.

I have this in red, it works well. It auto shuts off after 2 hours and rewarms quicky. The only problem is it has a vent for the lid at the back near the handle, so if you grab the handle near the top you will get burned from the steam when pouring a cup. I've learned to deal with it, but it was very annoying at first. Worth the $15.

Also, it does require a filter, and it has an auto stop if you remove the carafe while a pot is brewing.
