These stands are great, I own three, and they were my preferred stand while gigging. Not sure what your apples to oranges comparison accomplishes.

The strings themselves put FAR more stress on the neck than this, it's fine.

I've been using these stands for a few years now, with no issues. Wall hangers wouldn't exist if hanging by the neck would damage it.

This is the price it shows up for on Musiciansfriend from time to time in a 2-pack (about $40). Not a bad price.

If you spot it on sale, I'd recommend the Hercules 412B that MF also occasionally has on a Stupid Deal as a 2-pack (~$50), but they've been showing up there much less often lately.

This may be ok, but I got the Hercules 5 guitar rack that was the FP deal last week and love it!

Is it bad for the guitar to hang like that? Seems like a lot of stress on one place for a long period of time. Sorry, beginner here so just cautious. Thanks.

What deal was that, must have missed it. I have this Fender stand and think it's great, use it for guitars and heavy basses and is super solid and secure.

How tall is this when fully extended? Does it stand straight up vertically or is it slanted? I need a tripod style stand for a diy light I made a while back and this might work...thanks for any help you guys might be able to provide

Seems like a weird design to have to hang from the neck, compared to similar designs that support the guitar body. I have one of these $12 stands and works great for me:

most guitar shops hang from the headstock. Look at String Swing for example. The string tension is a far greater force than hanging from the headstock.

However, I'm always a little concerned about using these style stands (foam padded) with nitro finishes. I prefer String Swing for home, Hercules for gigging and Zither as a premium option.

It does state: "Exercise caution with nitrocellulose finishes" so I'm guessing the foam padding might not be safe for guitars with a nitro finish.

I also got mine from MF with the buy 2 for $40 deal. I like these stands. They are well made and I haven't had any problems. They fold up and store very compactly as well. As has been stated: guitar shops hang their wares from the head stock and you can buy guitar wall hangers that use only the headstock as the anchor point. So I can't see how hanging them from the headstock as opposed to resting them on the bottom of the body makes any difference.
