The cost to performance curve is geometric. It's not that much different than sports cars. Every 10 HP costs more than the previous 10, especially when longevity is taken into consideration. The additional cost, expressed in dollars per rtings point per year of life, in going from LED to QLED is way less than going from anything to OLED, especially when burn-in is considered. Additionally, the higher the rtings numbers, the harder it becomes to notice the difference in a non laboratory settings.
I'm guessing that you're actually getting lost in the quagmire that is Samsung's bloated and overpriced QLED lineup. If you want to do comparisons there, you'll need a longevity factor. Consider multiplying the OLED price by 1.5 if you think it will only have 2/3 the performance life of the QLED. There is currently a significant disparity between manufacturer's claims and consumer experience. Samsung knows that and uses it to their best advantage.

Serious question.

OLED does work best in darker rooms. QLED would be better for a very bright room.

I say this from experience, I have close family members that bought a budget model of an 80+ inch TV and while they are not generally sensitive to lower end tech they very much did notice that the picture on their brand new TV was not nearly as crisp as it seemed on their previous model, which was 30" smaller. And while $1k is not nearly as expensive as the high end models, it's still A LOT of money for folks to spend on a brand new TV and come away disappointed.
Not everyone will experience this, but just thought I would mention it. Don't turn an entire wall into a low-end TV, sit 10 feet from it, and expect to be wowed. It's probably better to get a smaller TV with better tech.
