Every single Gopro I've had (my first was a Hero 5 black and I have 4 now) overheats, shuts down and sometimes corrupts videos.

These things aren't selling because GoPro designers screwed up. It's 90% of the size of the full-size GoPro. It's missing both screens and a lot of functionality (e.g. no still images). The battery is non-replaceable. The priced it at 90% of the normal camera price. It's plain simply stupid. There is no good use case for a camera like that at that price.

Now at $199 it's actually almost attractive enough for me to be useful. However still, no replaceable battery kills the deal for me.

I have used GoPros since they were first introduced. Unless it's a super hot sunny summer day, I haven't experienced the overheating.

I have 2 GoPro Hero 8
The last one I bought was $125 new from Best Buy using rewards and a $199 sale price in December
Both work perfectly, no overheating, great stabilizing. Quality is excellent.
Batteries last an hour at 1080/30 which is my main recording for YouTube.
I use it for longer video and I edit the highlights.
Can't do videos of that length on my iPhone 12.
3 batteries last me for most of the daily videos on long trips.

That's a lot of NO's in the description. I got my Hero 5 still working for recoding matches, thought about upgrading to this but way too many NO's and probably not an upgrade.

I've had one of these since they came out. Use it on my motorcycle helmet. It's pretty much perfect for that. The battery is fine, just turn it on to record, turn it off. It's basically a Session that can record in 10 bit color with insane resolutions.

This price cut makes it a no brainer. And with the subscription you can set it to auto upload when charging and then clear the SD card. Have never had it over heat because I'm not recording 5k with GPS and stabilization on while it sits stationary with no airflow. If it overheats it's because you're probably using it wrong. Massive heatsink on the back.

What the .. no screens? So we'd need to sync with the GoPro Quik app to check framing .. which means going handheld is out of the question. Seems only useful for a mount/tripod.

is this any better than a newer iphone for video posts. Only need this for concert and foodie posts.

Ehh no screen would make this almost useless for me unless I put it on my Miata for mountain runs. laugh out loud
