Also, will wait a bit extra to see if I get 1099 from certain banks for credit card referrals for churning in multi-player mode.
State+tax should drop to $15 by then.

Edit: looks like it's $40
"One state program download included - a $39.95 value"
H&R Deluxe and State hits $15-$20 with the state software included.
That said you can install the software on 2 computers and only do your Federal pieces and DO NOT START your state components. Copy the H&R 2022 file to the 2nd computer and only then start the individual states (2) on the respective computers.
Dont confuse the e-filing part as 5 Fed filings are included States for the most part are an additional fee (NY is free for example). No real way around this other than printing and mailing it out.

In order to do multiple states without paying for 2nd state as I had the same questions and did this successfully last year living in PA (Resident) and working in NY (Non-Resident):
Install Deluxe+State software on 2 machines.
- Complete ONLY your Federal portion and DO NOT start the State steps.
- Once the Federal is done you copy the H&R Tax file to 2nd computer.
- Once you have your Federal file on both computers you can then start the state and pick the 2 different states you need to file on the respective computers.
- Obviously this means that any changes you make in Computer 1 you'll need to manage the changes in computer 2 manually so its best to do the State at the tail end of the filing process.
Obviously many/most states charge to e-File but dont get confused with that portion and e-Filing and filling out 2 different State's taxes using the software are 2 different things as each state you fill out has a separate charge.Only way to get around the e-Filing charge is to print and mail your return. NY FYI, is free to eFile.
