Surprised this offer is still available in April 2023, but it is. It's a better deal than the Metro version, unless you really need 6GB RAM. Boost handset comes with 4GB RAM (both have same model # XT2215-4).
Deal is not $10 as thread title suggests. Phone will cost about $53 unlocked, potentially $27 after cashback. Breaks down this way:
$10 (the handset) + $40 (a month of service) + $1 (taxes) + $2 (unlock code from eBay) = $53, then one cashback site offers $26.25 though that should be considered a bonus. [taxes may be different, these numbers are based on FL]
Not allowed to post the eBay listing (I think their rating is too low) but look for one that's $1.75+tax. Does not mention the 2022 version of this phone but many reports it works (including for me).
Unlock is performed in the traditional method of putting a non-Boost SIM in the phone, then entering unlock code when prompted.
Can't post the cashback site but it's easy to find and they sometimes have referral bonuses, so if you're not a member check if you have a friend or relative who's on them.
Boost defaults to autopay=on, you'll need to do live chat right after activating (i.e. well before renewal) to have them disable (no self-service option). You can use the Boost service for the month if you want.
That's it, though the Metro version (6GB) is now $20 online (new #) and only $0 if you go to a store and port in.

1. call sprint to add the imei to their database.
2. move your acct to T-Mobile. Then just swap sim.
Sprint said the imei is in their database, but couldn't get it to work.
They gave me the link to BYOD and it says "Sorry, but this phone can't be activated with Sprint service."
