Good price. I will note that Garmin 965 and 265 are expected to be announced in next few days, after which we can see a price reduction on 955 and 255. Might be worth waiting till middle of Feb.

I want a Fenix 7, but not for $700+ - any idea if the Fenix line will be updated soon, too? I haven't seen anything elsewhere and I don't think the 7 has been out as long as the typical Fenix refresh time, but you seem to have a better finger on the pulse than me and the 955 just came out last year and is already getting a refresh (I'm guessing mostly for the ECG hardware additions the Venu 2 Plus got), so I figure it's worth asking!

What features of the Fenix 7 are you looking for that the ForeRunners don't have? They are really close unless you specifically want features like electronic shifting support on your bike.
Most likely the update is going to be OLED screens for the ForeRunner series. The Fenix lineup already has that in the form of the Epix, so don't expect the Fenix line to have a new release or discount any time soon.
I hate Garmin for deliberately gimping these "lower" range models. For example, want your kayaking workout to upload as kayaking in Strava or garmin connect? Sorry, you'll have to buy a higher end model. Make sure the activity you're doing is supported by the garmin watch you're looking at. Or…. Buy a Polar or Suunto, they don't deliberately exclude activities so you have to upgrade.

I know it's half petty, but the build/look. I've been using a Forerunner 235 since I first got back into running as an adult, and it's treated me great, but just looks and feels cheap now. I bought a Fenix 6 Sapphire (returned due to GPS issues..) that I much prefer the look of and that just seems like it will hold up to other things (MTB, woodworking) better, too. But I'm mostly trail running or MTB, so I'd like the newer/better GPS hardware of the Fenix7/955 series over the 6, even ignoring the issues I had with mine.
I think most of the rest of the features that I want (maps, better weather, integrated "coach", body battery, better music/phone integration, Garmin Pay) is on the newer Forerunners now, I just like the looks of the Fenix series.
