Very much so. Go to BestBuy, Costco, or whatever brick-and-mortar retailer that's available and try on the series 8 that's on display.

For an average sized 5 year old, I'd suspect even the 41mm is big. I also remember losing lunchboxes and bookbags at that age, so consider a series 4 from eBay or, if you must buy new, an Apple Watch SE.

All of those watches are fully capable of messaging, tracking, etc. I cannot fathom the value of a series 7 for a 5 year old unless they just need to check EKG frequently

Yesterday was $279 for green, which I've followed has always been a bit lower than midnight.

This $329 matches the price Target had on Christmas. If you're gung-ho on the midnight color, this is amongst the lowest a series 7 with cellular has been (and stock is only going down).

Good deal, in for 1.

The non cellular one was as low as $309 at Target during the holidays. I'm willing to pay $20 more for cellular capabilities.

i got stainless steel 7 (refurb) which actually was only 2 weeks old and had almost full 1 year warranty on it for $349. I take stainless over aluminum any day - especially with that sapphire crystal - see link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09T1F7...ct_details

Month back I upgraded from series 4 same 44 and cellular.
Very good. Getting almost 2 day battery and charges quick in an hour.
I am very happy with series 7 45.

For me, yesterday's deal with green was much better deal at 279 which is $50 lesser. I will wait till it drops below 300. Having no color preference, will go for green again.

Must buy new. Batteries are not replaced on refurbs, not even by Apple.
