In case you actually care, Scott's that HD carries changed formulas and bag size this year. Now it's a 12k sqft bag for 80 bucks!
Shrinkflation.
I bought what I need for this year at the end of last year. Seed is particularly expensive. Crazy to think I can spend $500 on a less than 1 acre lawn every year just in seed and fert.
Same here in CT. This deal is in multiple threads and FB groups.
ALL sizes of this were $1/bag last night at the Waterford, CT store. They had a few pallets at the entrance that were pretty dusty. Appears to be a pretty wide-ranging clearance based on my impressions from FB groups.
I already prebought my fertilizer for next year, and would have bought more, but the reviews on this are super polar - either 5 or 1 star with the 1 star saying it "burned" their lawn, although I will say that this fert isn't compatible with some types of grass so it might very well be user error.
Great post. Was debating whether it was worth stopping at the Waterford store after work. Definitely will now.
EDIT/update: Waterford sold out around noon, apparently someone bought two entire pallets. Westerly, Montville and Lisbon are all out as well.

LOL. I was there last night on the way home maybe 5:30pm. They had a ton right as you walk in the door. Contemplated it for a sec then decided to not buy based on reviews. Wonder what the person buying the entire lot was thinking - has to be resale right?

I was thinking resale, or a landscaping company seriously improved their bottom line for 2023.
My concern was that this stuff may have been sitting for more than a year. The walmarts around here always clearance this stuff out in mid-September and get rid of everything by the end of October. Home depot and Lowe's generally don't do that. They both have a lot more storage space overhead in their outdoor areas, so space isn't as much of an issue for them. I've seen the same pallets of this stuff sitting through winter, and wouldn't be surprised if this is from 2020/21.
If anyone did score some product, I'd be interested to see if there's a production date listed. I've had poor results using stuff more than 2 years old. That being said, $1 is $1. Smokin deal while it lasted.
I was able to get as many 43lb bags as I could fit in my wife's SUV! Almost dumped the kids car seats to grab more!! This will last a couple of years for me, my brother in law, and my father in law.
$2300 of weed and feed for $34!!
Didn't take it all - there was still a ton left after I filled up!

Why..? Do you own a small golf course or something or are you that guy who runs up and piles up slices on a plate at the pizza party?
