I traveled by air and cruise ship carrying bottles of wine sandwiched between layers of clothes and even a 16 pack of beer.
My cheap luggage never failed.
Over time I found the hard material used as a backer that makes the bottom / back of the luggage stuff would deteriorate.
I learned the more you pay the heavier the shell material (usually).
I also learned the cheap Walmart luggage has faults in the handle on telescoping handles ("pilot" style) that can punch the crap out of your fingers when collapsing it.
I still have that Walmart case and just learned to be careful.
If you are going on a trip or vacation yearly this set will do right by you.
If you are touring Europe for a month these may not look so great at the end but they will live to go on your next adventure.
I always liked American Tourister.

How is it dealing with Samsonite for returns? Not sure if it was this company or another, but I'm fairly certain I saw a comment within the last few weeks from another SDer that claimed Samsonite makes it difficult to do warranty claims. Something like having to pay the shipping yourself and that's expensive
Structurally, AT luggage will hold up to abuse. My current set is at least 5 yo and I travel 2-3 times a year. Depending on how much the airline abuse the luggage, the wheels will start to have their own mind, and they won't roll as well as when it was new in spinner position; but still manageable. I suppose I could lube the wheels to help them roll better.
