Specs: https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-s...-2-tb.d666
Highlights:
Tlc, no dram, 64 layer
Endurance: 540 tbw
3 year warranty
2018 inception
Some *'s on variants possibly being 96 layer instead of 64

Sum up, this is an ssd using 5 year-ish old technology. Most popular ssd's actually use Tlc as well, so don't let that scare you off. I'd suggest using that spec sheet database to compare with other popular ssd choices and decide which level of tech suits what you want and your wallet 🙂

care to provide some proof with actual references. No Reddit doesn't count.

I've been using it for PS5 for almost a month for back up storage. No problems, but keep in mind you do need to move games into the internal storage in order to play. but that only takes a few minutes vs downloading them. with Xbox, you can play legacy titles directly from the backup, but must move Series X games to internal storage.
For ps5 digital with PS4 games. Can you play the PS4 games directly off the external drive

Sure, I personally have had 3 PNY drives die on me all with less than one year of use. Does that count?

That's normal for Qlc drives.

540 TBW is very high amount of writing. For my Operating System (OS), it equals 20 years of writing. For my data (including all downloads), it's about 10 years of writing.

However, I'm not sure if the company sticks to the original specs sheet. If it's still using TLC nands, it's great. If it's switched to QLC nands, it's bad.

How did you know I was a district attorney? Oh yes I filed your case. As for your idiotic assume that these drives are overall garbage because you have had 3 that failed I have been putting the cs900 in cheap gaming builds 200+ for a few years with 2 issues thus far. Once again sounds like user error must have DL'd to much pron and wore the drives out.

Bought this last time for $99. Contacted Amazon for price adjustment and they said no. So that one is getting returned and I'm getting this price after all 🤷 ♂️
All that hassle of transferring data and shipping back for $10?

So you do those builds on your free time after your DA job? Do you find you are able to really put your heart and soul into both?

Depends on the county, in mine being a DA requires around 20-25 hours per week most of the year. While I do feel these PNY drives will not hold up well to massive writes they are fine for most people and we have had very little issues with the ones we install as game drives. Anything can fail. The biggest issues we have ever had with SSDs hands down goes to patriot.

Don't get scared of that number.
As a reference, check how many TBW you have actually used on your own computers and how long those drives are in use for. Calculate your TBW per year and it will tell you how many years this would last. For my 4 year old laptop which is my daily use one, I have only 38 TBW on its one single drive. So this would last me more than a few decades!!
Your main concern should be sustained read write. The more expensive drives like Samsung have better controller and caching which allows sustained 500MBps read write.
This drive will likely give you 500 for the first 10GB or so and then drop to 100. But then again, how often do you write Consistent 500MBps for over 10GB?

Just a heads up:

This drive has a total capacity of 2TB which is double the capacity of 1TB drive.
