I bought the 2TB to put in an enclosure and its extremely slow, unbearable after filling 1TB. It was also super slow initially. Nowhere near advertised speeds.
It looks to be a dram-less SATA SSD, which makes random writes slower, so it should be a decent boot drive. These are kinda big for a dedicated boot drive so it would probably be better to spend a bit more to get one with dram so that you can put other files on there like games and what not. Then, everything would be faster in general.

I do agree with a previous reply where they don't trust Patriot. It is anecdotal, but I've had 2 usb sticks of theirs die prematurely and an ssd get random cell failures after only a couple years. That was just my experience though, so I stick with Samsung and Crucial for the most part. Just my 2 cents though.

How would this be for a 2nd drive? My main one is a NVMe which the OS will be on.

Why dont they make larger capacity 2.5" SATA SSDs? Feel like we've been stuck at 2TB 2.5" SSDs for like over a decade now, and while they do get cheaper it doesnt seem like they are getting larger while the M.2 and NVME types are getting faster and larger all the time. And for some reason as soon as you want to get larger than 2TB its like all these 20-30TB+ Industrial/enterprise grade kioxia drives.

Cost. The only difference between a SATA and a NVMe is the interface.

Since SATA is capped at a significantly slower speed than NVMe - PCIe, companies are focusing on the latter for performance and new products. SATA ssd's nowadays are mostly relegated to budget offerings for very casual computer users or those who want to add extra local storage.
