I would call and ask before going. They have an attitude.
In other news, FWIW, LACMA is free EVERY DAY after 3PM for SoCal residents. (Does not cover special exhbitions or parking and most of LACMA is a hole in the ground RN, but YMMV).

The following museums in SoCAl are free EVERY DAY so don't waste this free day on them:
(But most require reservations, and you have to pay to park and pay for special exhibitions, so YMMV)

The Broad downtown
Hammer Museum
The Getty Center
The Getty Villa
LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

Use the day to go to places that normally charge!

Also, FWIW, Bank of America is resuming it's free first weekends program in SoCal with a ton of attractions being free on the first weekend of the month if you show a Bank of America ATM or Credit card. Check the BofA site for participating museums each month.

Any photography based museums? Or just the motion picture one
Getty had a lot last time I was in there. It's a must visit if you haven't gone.

The Getty villa is very nice. Great classical art and architecture, despite the modern looking outside.

To be clear, the list above are ALL great - there's just no reason to visit them on this particular day because there's no benefit.

Fyi... I suspect it was too early to reserve as free. If you go to their website now.. Sunday tickets are now free.

To be "clear-er":
I didn't say they were not great, I said they were free EVERY day so don't waste a day when you can get in somewhere that is normally $20. Peace
