Newegg has the 16TB WD Red NAS drive down to 239.99 with SSPCN326. $15/TB Not as low as we've seen the easystores but solid for an OEM red.

So, does NewEgg handle this kind of hardware with the care it deserves? If it weren't for NewEgg's reputation in this regard, I'd have TU'd and pounced.

Great drives, best price available if you need them now. I am yet to have one of these fail in my Unraid or Synology setups.

Are you referring to their open box items? This particular drive is new, so it shouldn't have that concern.

I assume they're talking about all of the Newegg drives that have been shipped rattling around in cardboard boxes with no or minimal packing material.

IIRC the WD drives ship in their own brown boxes with bubble clamshells inside

Delete this, duplicate post. Didn't realize this was posted 11 hours ago already.

Promo code SSPCN326 for $40 off bringing total to $239.99.

These are fantastic drives especially for NAS being CMR. They can be somewhat loud so keep that in mind.

Yes but these drives have TLER so they if they get a bad sector they won't keep hammering at it trying to recover data, they expect the OS to fix it at the software level. If you're running them as single drives - keep backups.

The Pro series is meant for enterprise use and is quite a bit noisier and doesn't spin down for power savings.

The 12TB Plus is on sale for $180 at newegg, which comes to the same $15/TB.

these'll be fine - just rated for 24/7 use

not true, TLER works with the hardware - otherwise it behaves like a desktop drive if there's no support.

More expensive, but also faster, 5 year warranty (instead of 2 for easystores), and you don't have to shuck them to use in a NAS.
