So, does NewEgg handle this kind of hardware with the care it deserves? If it weren't for NewEgg's reputation in this regard, I'd have TU'd and pounced.
I ordered one of these drives from newegg on Black Friday.

I'm a truck driver so don't receive my mail. When my mom got the package, it was basically a bare drive in a static bag on the front porch.

Sent it back without issue. They sent a new drive. The new one I just installed came in an appropriate sized box, with rigid highly compressed air bags that were basicly a life jacket around the drive.

These weren't the air bags they send in an Amazon box, but obviously more specialized for fragile items. I wouldn't be surprised if they were specifically for hard drives.

The packaging was an a plus.

I also used to work in an Amazon facility and packed lots of boxes so I pay attention to how things are packed when I receive them and before that ran my own eBay business way back in the early 2000s.

This is was packed at least as well as I would have packed it going from private seller to private buyer.

So basically, it's a crap shoot lol. I'm not sure if it was a ether pack job because of the rma or I just got someone lazy the first time around.
