Reviews aren't very positive for using it as a dive reel, but plenty of people seem to be happy using it for boating or kayaking. Since a dive line can literally be a life saver underwater, I'm not sure I'd trust my life to this one. Even if you only need one for training/certification, do yourself a favor and get one that reels in reliably. It's not worth saving a few bucks.
