Not looking to pick a fight, but the high arch is by design - it doesn't "plague" the shoe. If it is "obtrusive" to you, perhaps HOKA isn't the right shoe brand for you.

Also these are trail runners, and as such are not specifically made for pavement. However, in the two years since I've had this same model, I've run 2 10Ks and 3 5Ks on pavement, along with the associated training and regular exercise on neighborhood streets in these shoes, plus occasional leisure sneaker activities. I've not experienced any of the poor durability claims you make. Even after all that use, they're nowhere near ready for being replaced.

Are these good/comfortable for walking on asphalt? I have regular hoka running shoes that are very comfortable when walking, but I need a new pair.

BEWARE: this model has that characteristically obtrusive high arch that plagues most HOKA shoes.

Durability is also going to very poor for this model because it uses low durometer EVA that is only sparsly protected by cheap water-downed rubber. The rubber HOKA uses on their non-Vibram soles is really bad compared to other brands.

Meh, soft landing but no energy return. Asics Fuji light 2 or 3 is a much better road to trail option. Similar stack height, but better lock down and much more fun to run in.

Do you run in all black shoes? I ask as we both know these colorways are pretty tame for any shoe, no matter the brand.
I saw these and thought finally a Hoka at a steal of a price.
I did pickup the Mach 4 from Eastbay before they went out for $58. I regret not buying multiple pairs.
•The one issue with the Gore-Tex models is the breathability; obviously not as great if you're running in say the Colorado mountains, Utah or somewhere when it's a very hot season. Your feet will certainly sweat and get hotter.
