Not looking to pick a fight, but the high arch is by design - it doesn't "plague" the shoe. If it is "obtrusive" to you, perhaps HOKA isn't the right shoe brand for you.

Also these are trail runners, and as such are not specifically made for pavement. However, in the two years since I've had this same model, I've run 2 10Ks and 3 5Ks on pavement, along with the associated training and regular exercise on neighborhood streets in these shoes, plus occasional leisure sneaker activities. I've not experienced any of the poor durability claims you make. Even after all that use, they're nowhere near ready for being replaced.

Agreed for first-time Hoka wearers - you just need to suck it up and pay the extra money.

I bought my first pair of hokas at Fleet Feet 5 years ago to get the proper fit now I always buy them online when they're on sale. ( Now I only where Hoka )

Question for the Hoka Community why don't we ever see the women Hoka shoes go on sale ?

What line did you wear? I found it to be the exact opposite in that they were more roomy and ran a bit wide compared to other brands I wore at the time. This was about 2 years ago with the Clifton 8s. Not sure how things have changed though since that was my last pair of Hokas, but I've been thinking about getting another pair when the right deal comes along.

If you've never tried Hoka and you value comfort, check out their Bondi shoe. If you don't like the current or last year's style, they intermittently release a limited edition style throughout the year. I only run with Carbon series now. So good.

Just my 2 cents:

I've been running for almost 3 decades (wow I'm old). Honestly my best recommendation is to try these on before buying (if you can). There are so many factors to buying the right running shoe for the specific individual. Places like Runners World or Snails Pace will have you run on a treadmill to measure foot impact, stride length, and a ton more. How much cushion? What terrain will you run on? Best way is to try them on in a B&M...or borrow a friend's (gross).

Tl dr: Hoka is a solid brand. Get New Balance MT series. Jk 😜

I have the Arahi 5's in 2E width. Got them a little over a year ago. They are also almost 2 sizes smaller than my other brand of shoes I own (Vans, Adidas, Nike, etc)
