Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Anyone know any payment offers with Google Fi? Wish there was something like what Amex had before.

+ 3 months of service which is roughly $75 for me after taxes laugh out loud
4 months. 120 days = 4 months.

So the cheapest monthly plan is $25 a month?

So far, phones through Google fi are unlocked out of box.. Most of the times, you cannot put that Sim card on another phone until you are fully satisfied with the promotion requirement.. Otherwise you get a charge back
So as long as the requirements are satisfied, Google Fi's S23 ultra and the S23 ultra directly from Samsung's website/factory are identical phones...is that correct to say? Per Google Fi's website: "With a phone designed for Fi, you'll get even better coverage as it intelligently switches between networks and secure Wi-Fi connections." I don't understand what it means when they say their phones are specifically designed for Fi...I don't have much technical knowledge about the innerworkings of smartphones, but any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just checked BestBuy and looks like the good trade-in deals are gone. Was nice while it lasted. Hoping they put out something like that so I can trade-in my S22. This google deal is not to bad.

Port in is NOT required for existing customers. Checkout clearly states:

Must activate on an existing Fi line and stay active on Fi for 120 days to retain instant rebate earned today. Storage upgrade included in phone price.
You cannot activate on an existing Fi line if port-in was required...

Google fi uses the t-mobile and US Cellular networks, so in theory it should be compatible with both networks.

I purchased the S22 under the existing promo - due to a delay in arrival it will come later this week. I'm debating if I want to open it and then go through the hassle of returning it before this one arrives or not. Has anyone had any experiences with Fi returns on devices? I have 30 days to activate it with the promo, but this phone should arrive in a few weeks, but we all know how preorder shipping delays happen. Worth it to open and return, or just return unopened back to Fi?

I'm shocked there aren't as many strings attached for existing users, I looked historically to see what promos were last year and before with existing users, and it was all "bill credit". I screen recorded the entire purchase process including opening up the terms, screenshots are so yesterday, screenrecord anything of note with cashback or promos! The biggest difference between this and the S22 I have arriving is that the S23 gives me 256gb and 120 days to remain on the plan vs 30 days.

Would I be forced to keep FI service *ON THE S23 ULTRA*, or would it still fulfill the terms of the agreement if I moved the Fi service to a Pixel 6A that I have? I'd still run the 4 month term to satisfy that part of the agreement, obviously.

Basically, can I use the S23U on my main line from the word go, and as long as I fulfill the 120 days on the 6A, am I OK, or will Uncle Google screw me for that?

Anybody know that particular scenario?

I confirmed this with their chat as well:

Me: So I do not need to port-in a new number and I can activate the phone on my existing Google Fi number to get the $600 off?

Them: Yes, you can activate the phone on your existing Fi account and you can use the same phone number on your new phone.

That has been my experience with S22 plus and S22. No difference between the phones through google fi and directly from samsung.
