Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I think his numbers are for t-mobile Magenta Max plan...." Samsung direct offer values those at $1000 & $800 respectively"

Those people without that plan are better off with goog fi, until something changes.
Negative.. Magenta Max plan gets you $800 without trade-in..
It just seems like some absurd trade-in values especially for the older devices.

Attachment 12927565

They are doing it a little differently this time. Last year trade-in was applied right away and balance was spread out over 24 month. This time they are spreading the trade-in credit over 24 month so it's essentially a 2 year contract. I am guessing you'll lose the remaining credit if you canceled service early

IN T&C: Contact us before cancelling service to continue remaining bill credits, or credits stop & balance on required finance agreement is due (e.g. $999.99 – Samsung Galaxy S23+ 128GB).

I have a T-Mobile legacy pay as you go SIM card I don't use anymore; it doesn't even have data, just calling and texting. Could I use that to port-in, and then activate the Fi $20+$10 data for 4 months and get the 512gb S23 Ultra for $600? Well, $720?
Yes.

You dont even need to actually use the Fi number. Just activate it in the S23U (important!), take the Fi sim out and put it in a drawer (never put it in another phone, that will void the promo), and use your shiny new phone wherever youd like since its unlocked on day 1.

I don't get why people are TU on this..

For trade in, it gives me $300 for S22 Ultra 5G 512GB, or $75 for S10 128G. vs Samsung direct offer values those at $1000 & $800 respectively.

$800 trade in for a S10 is a total no brainer. Last year Samsung was only giving $150 for a S10. I am still debating if I want to give up S22 Ultra for $1000.
Lets break this down.

If you meet all the conditions, you end up paying 600 plus tax. Lets say 660. Now for the cheapest plan, its 80(or 120 if they auto charge 10 for the extra you wont use)~ bucks for the 4 months needed. So 740(or add 70 if they tax original value). And all this, is without trade in.

Now, your s22 ultra is still a highly valued item. On 2nd hand market, used ones go for roughly 800 bucks. Im sure you could probably sell your old phone for 750.

So if you paided 740(or 810) to fulfil the deed, and can sell your phone for at least 750(so either have 10 bucks or paid 60), im pretty sure thats better than having to pay 330(samsung charges the full tax) and stuck with it for 2 years.

Plus the 1k and 800 trade in monthly credits are up to thay point with the right device. On tmobile they gave example of lower devices giving less. And, again with tmobile, you gotta be on their better, costly plans, unless someone has verified otherwise.

Tldr: you pay 600, plus tax and 80~ for service without giving up your current phone, or basically for free if you sell it at a good price yourself. Plus you are free after 4 months vs 2-3 years.

The whole outcry was because we cant get more than 500 trade in from 21/22 ultra without having to use monthly credit bonuses(this deal is basically that trade in, without having to trade in). Otherwise this deal wouldnt be as popular

Where are you getting those trade in values on samsung.com? I'm seeing only $500 trade in value on my s22 ultra.

I think this is a no brainer thanks to the point above. I didn't realize my 512GB S22 Ultra still had so much trade in value. I'm going to to bundle it with a sealed Galaxy Watch 4 I had been meaning to sell and use that to pay for this upgrade. I'm listing both at $975 as a package deal but would be happy to get $800 - $900 for both items especially if I don't have to pay seller fees and have cash in hand.

Iunno where you are located but a used s22 ultra is not selling for $800 - barely even sold for that price when first came out. Now probably will get $600 tops

I agree with your breakdown.. it makes sense with a S22 Ultra. I am just debating if I want to bother with the trouble of selling and etc.
With my wife's S10. it's a pretty easy decision to go with $800 trade in via T-Mobile. She would end up paying ~300 to get to 512G S23 Ultra.. we were about to pay that much for a refurb S20 Ultra about a month ago.

In calif, it is $656 (after tax). Trade in iPhone 11 (cost $190 on Tracfone), so total cost is: $656-$310+$190 + $20*4 = $616. If you consider the refer bonus, that's about $600. I guess that's not too bad for a newly released flagship phone. The storage is also correct, so don't have to rely on a microsd card.

I am an idiot, hope someone can clarify something for me.

I am one of those that put the Google FI SIM in a drawer after I activated it, and I have 5 days remaining to be free of the chargeback from their past S22U offer. Today I got the email from Google with this Deal, and because I wanted to check which FI number I had, I stupidly put the Google FI SIM in an old iPhone XR I have, placed a call to my wife's number, then hung up (didn't reach voicemail). The SIM was less than 3 minutes inside the phone and I am currently in Mexico traveling.

Do you think I'll get the chargeback? Any suggestions to prvent it?

This is from their website. It does have a requirement to keep the line open for 120 days or else you will be charged back.

How do I qualify for the discount?

You must be a new Fi customer. A new Fi customer is someone who has never had Fi service or someone whose last day of Fi service took place more than 180 days before making a purchase with this promotion.

To qualify for the full discount, you need to:

Purchase the device or currently be in a group plan with the purchaser.

Activate the phone on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation.

You must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.

Remain active and in good standing for 120 consecutive days. Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion.

The discounted price will automatically apply during checkout. If you do not meet the conditions above, the discount will be charged to your Google Pay account to match the full price of the phone.
So... do I need to get a new Google file number, or do I need to port in an existing non Google file number?

Also, do I need 4 months of their $50 dollar a month service, or can I use the $20 dollar flexible service?

Either way, I won't be using data or calls on the phone for the 4 months, so the data limit doesn't matter. Just looking to get the phone at a reasonable price all in.

Thanks in advance!

Even with that lower sell point, this is still way more open than whats needed for the 1k trade in credit, and for a lot less commitment.

Go to fi.google.com, then look for billing->Fi savings -> in-progress. You can see if your terms are still valid or not.
